Copy Ford Maverick adjustable tailgate

I wonder if the panel below the window can be removed or modified as a pass thru? If it's part of the structural support for the window, I may have to buy another one to do some experimental modifications. Maybe someone will come up with a replacement rear window with a slide panel.
I saw or read that somewhere that the panel is 12"x12" and will be removable to pass things through. Forget where that was though...

That’s what I was told at the Olympia event. The measurement was a guesstimate, as I didn’t bring a tape measure

I’ve always wondered what the weight limit was when the cables are fully supporting the weight of a load on the tailgate.
Out of curiosity did some googling on some owners forums for comparison:
The only official one I could find was Ford says the static weight limit of the tailgate on a modern Ranger is 485lb. F150 owners say 600. Honda Elements are 400lb, and it looks like 90s rangers are 250lb. S-10 owners on the forum say 300 and Tacoma people say 200-400lb.
