She was 16-18 lb and he was 18-20 lb. Her more overweight than him, but neither obese. It never stopped surprising me how long he really was when he would stretch out while laying down.
That is very impressive! They fit side by side on the seat. Must be really chilled to stay put over 2000 miles. Top down at any point?

With the passenger seat removed I was able to create a full-length (enclosed) space for them. The top couldn't go down because the parcel shelf was packed full.

I have had a 70lb coonhound ride in the passenger seat of my MR2. He seemed to love it, but that's absolutely something that's going to vary dog to dog.

Side note, I have removed the passenger seat for more cargo space before.

I was going to suggest removing the passenger seat but @Driven5 beat me to it. I have a couple of 70# labs both in their early to mid teens. They take the entire back bench seat and still get in each other's way. They do better in the SUV with the back seat down... I'd need a topper on the truck for sure.

Thank you all for your input! Before removing the front seat, I will try to create more leveled surface by pushing the seat back and filling the footwell with something. Hopefully a semi enclosure will contain grandpa and provide enough room for the younger gal. 🙂

While removing the passenger seat sounds like a good idea, I would be concerned about disabling the weight sensor which controls the air bag. Especially if your pet is within that confined space.
