Early days, lots of things could happen.
Obviously I don't know what Slate's battery contract says, but what-if EV sales tank. The battery company says we're sitting on all this production capacity and not making money. Fire sale! Lithium pouches are now $45/kWh! Move them!
Slate says "we can help you", send trucks to Warsaw. New price for big battery Slate is $24k.
from what I know ev battery’s are going down in price so far

Slate, or any startup for that matter, needs to build credibility with consumers. A sure way to lose it is to not honor their “mid-twenties“ advertised price.

We are not dealing with established automakers like Ford or Tesla who have burned us in the past with the Lightning or Cybertruck.
true trust worthy, reliability, and safety I think are the big 3

I don’t really see how it is dishonest. Slate was advertising under 20k. Now they’re not. Not their fault, but it’s true!
No, they advertised with the incentive caveat, which the headline conveniently leaves out to to alter meaning

Sure. The incentive was a positive, now it’s gone. We never called out anyone for a positive video about Slate where they called it the sub 20k electric truck. Even if they didn’t include the federal incentive asterisk in their title. I don’t think either one is particularly dishonest, by today’s standards.

I'd be really surprised if any significant number of Slates appear before some time in 2027. So many months to have pricing and cost go up/down/sideways. But last week I was reminded of one thing that is NOT a variable. Took in Honda Odyssey (80K miles) for oil change at dealer. While waiting I asked about "suggested maintenance" as we near 100K. Was $2500+ for s-belt, and water pump, tranny lube change, injector flush on special machine, and a few other ICE related things. I'm not going forward with some of them and yes, dealers charge more than many independents. Point being, as more EV's are sold and log more miles, there are increasing truths of drivers having serious savings in fuel and service costs. I expect new ICE cars to go UP and expect used cars and repair costs to as well. IF the Slate truck is what it is cracked up to be (pun intended) as far as top safety rating, I would much rather get it than a suspect used vehicle with miles on it. For those that cannot charge at home at discounted rates, I get that the math and convenience is nowhere near as favorable as it is for many of us and perhaps in 2027 there will be an entry level ICE/hybrid vehicle for you.
