According to the latest Edmunds Used Car Report, the average transaction price for a 3-year-old used vehicle has reached $30,522. That’s up 2.3% from the same time last year and marks the first time since mid-2023 that this number has climbed back over the $30,000 mark.

If the current trend continues into next year, this makes an even stronger affordability case for Slate. This essentially means that a brand new vehicle under full warranty can be had for ~$5k less than used. Assuming, of course, the Slate’s “mid twenties” target is met.

Good news for Slate but bad news for consumers…. The goal should be the opposite!
Once Slate is released it will help lower used car prices. Imagine how cheap a used Slate could be. Unless they're so popular they can't keep up with production. Haha

I’m hoping Slate will be a used market value overall, but hold its own value reflecting less depreciation.

that could make a new wrap attractive.
I think it makes wrapping in general attractive compared to going commando.

A use Slate that has been wrapped from the get-go might be more valuable because the wrap has protected the body panels from accumulating Visible Wear.

That’s true.
i was thinking it might be financially positive to offer new wrap as part of resale, either already wrapped or offer buyer choice.

from what I surmised slate is trying to make it to where there is little depreciation so second or third had buyers can get it cheap I remember them saying something on it but can’t remember the video

I think the blank slate no accessory’s second had could sell well but I could also see used car dealerships adding stuff from slate to increase them or could ask the customer if they wanted any options since they would be available, so your not just getting a blank slate instead you can customize it a bit making it simi-new. Making it feel like a better value for the second had user. I know slate is gonna have a net work of trusted Machanic/dealers for the Addams like wraps and installments so who knows they could have dealers partner with them as well which could expose the truck to a wider consumer base.

If Slate fully adopts the Tesla direct to consumer model then they can offer “used” or “demo” models for sale on their website.

Using Tesla as an example, they offer a huge inventory of used trade in or demos at very attractive discounted prices.

If Slate offers a free wrap to give a used vehicle a fresh look, they will be selling like hotcakes. 🥞

oh yah that’s Smart keeping it in house could have 3 types new, used, and refurbished used that add customization instead of just a blank used for a bit more price wise while not taking the option away for just a blank used slate
