Factory Lift Questions

I plan to order the factory lift, but I have some “wonderings” about it…
- Does anyone know if it will be installed at the factory? (I VASTLY prefer that
scenario.)
- Has anyone asked what suspension components are changed?
- How many others are planning to opt for the lift?

Pretty sure that all indications are lifting/lowering will occur after blank Slate production.

That sounds right, but I’m betting this particular option is one that most buyers would prefer Slate to install after production but before delivery. Third-party installed or DIY lift kits can be… problematic.

I was looking at adding the lift but would hope they would install it and do the bigger tire option before delivery. Having someone else do it/DIY usually isn’t a great idea specially on a new design of vehicle.

I don't think there needs to be a concern for swapping out the lift kits via the third party service places Slate is sending these to. These are supposed to be delivered through Slate's partnered service centers and the parts should be fairly "bolt on bolt off." I'm sure Slate will provide all of the step-by-step documentation for the service techs and be pretty idiot proof. And since these lifts are being designed by Slate, they should be even simpler for a tech to do. I agree that third party lift kits, even sanctioned by OEMs, can have problems.

My concern is more for them sending a blank slate halfway across the country, THEN having a service center swap out the parts, would make more sense for Slate to do the tire and suspension work in-house before sending it out than have a service center halfway across the country dealing with piles of new wheels and tires.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the lift and lowering kits for the trucks were simple spacers so an easy diy job. Adding in all sorts of suspension changes goes against the slate principle so my money is on an easy spacer lift.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the lift and lowering kits for the trucks were simple spacers so an easy diy job. Adding in all sorts of suspension changes goes against the slate principle so my money is on an easy spacer lift.
Makes sense, also considering it’s RWD, no need for offroad suspension.

Spacers usually indicate a "chassis lift" whereby the frame stays at the same height. But spacers could also indicate a "suspension lift" whereby spacers and some suspension parts are used to extend the height of both the frame and the cab. Any one heard how Slate intends to lift the truck?

I think the answer is they'll install it for you, but not at the factory because all Trucks will be created as Blank Slates.

I'm curious if the lift & lowering kits are just longer/shorter u-bolts, with taller blocks for the lift and removing the factory blocks for the lowering kit. If that's the case, I have no problem doing it myself.

I sort of doubt they're doing different A-arms, coil spring spacers, shackles, etc.
