This is definitely very early to think about, seeing as how we still have very little info on their first model, but Slate has promised a range of vehicles based on the same or similar architecture. I keep seeing articles and videos where people suggest a 4 door SUV, but if you want a mid size 4 door electric SUV, that's basically the entire rest of the american EV market.
What I want is a small hatchback. Round off the front a bit more at the cost of some frunk room, use just a front motor, keep a lot of the same interior parts, use just the small battery configuration so you can shorten the overall length, and something like a twist beam rear axle. It could even look like a 75% scale version of "fastback" version of the SL8. There's a lot of Yaris and Fit owners out there looking for a replacement.
So what would you want to see their next model be?

It almost sounds like you're describing the Rivian R3?

For myself, I'm a fan of what I call a "two door utility runabout". It can come in many form factors, but the length should be 164" to around 174" long. A Kia Soul is the former size. A Ford Bronco Sport (or a Slate) is the latter. I also call these "tall but small". A trucklet in that size (like the Slate) would be super cool.

Alas, it seems only myself and ten other people in the entire USA want a vehicle like this.

If they made an AWD version, I might own two of them. One would be a lowered, enclosed cargo version (which is what I need) and the other a lifted, open 4x4 off-road version (which is what I want). Bonus points if the AWD can tow 2000#.

They have an R3X version that sounds right up your alley. Not sure about cost though. It seems likely to be a $35,000 class vehicle.

The R3X seems like it would be closer to the size of the SL8 fastback, I want something like a foot shorter. (Yaris replacement)

Agreed! My hope is to by the current Slate, add the fastback cover and NOT the seats.

Call it the CURB and market it as the ultimate city car.
