I'll start off by saying this post is just for fun 😁

In several videos a future Slate model is mentioned, a "Slate portfolio of vehicles".
I would speculate that the next Slate might be a stretched 4 door with optional 4wd and 3rd row.
This would be several years from now, but the way the head engineer talks about it he's already planning it.
Let me know what you think is next after the Blank Slate.

I think rear suicide half-doors could be pretty awesome. It gets that rear seat access while keeping the small form factor.
The tricky part would be how to incorporate the SUV conversion shell.

That would be pretty cool. My idea was in the next model it will be a stretched slate adding a permanent 2nd row and leaving the bed like is now, which would allow for an optional 3rd row. It would probably add about 2-3 feet to the length of the truck. Using half doors would make that very possible!
I think it would make a great 2nd model, adding a 4 door truck and a 3row suv, and retaining most parts/accessory compatibility.

Not sure the rear doors will be quite that long, but something similar to this.

the easiest update is to add 1-2 feet to the bed so you now have a long bed. Then being able to add the same SUV seats with a shorter cap to have a double cab with the same 5ft bed.

suicide doors are a pain. had that in my 2000 tundra and would never do that again. There are times in a parking lot when they cant be opened blocking the rear passengers from coming out at all.

a 4door under 30k is interesting but a complete revamp of the truck.

I do agree that the half doors can be frustrating, but if they retain the front seats then in a situation where you can't open the back doors you could still get out from the front door like the current Slate.
Can't see them doing a full revamp, goes against their ethos, "using the same part for multiple uses". A full revamp would also add a lot of cost.
The head engineer has also said they plan on using the same platform for future projects.
Edit: a long bed option would be awesome as well, added it as an option on the poll!

Extended cab option. Just a small back seat to make room for some kids but still keep it a pickup. Would be great if they also offered a longer rear overhang to keep the bed size with the EXT option. Meanwhile a slightly longer vehicle could do wonders for the SUV option. Just think of the possibilities with Slates modularity.

The most likely new feature will probably be the dual motor 4WD/AWD, as that has already been alluded by Slate management in various interviews.

I could see Slate pursuing their own take on a long modular platform that for a long/flat-bed truck or van. Similar to Kia's modular EV concept.
