Check out this new commercial for Slate, produced by MayandHunter.

Their marketing campaign is really resonating with the younger generation… along with those who appreciate the retro style. Enjoy!

Instagram always has the most brutal comment sections lol

That being said I'll take what I can get for anything showing the slate studio!

"Their marketing campaign is really resonating with the younger generation"- I hate to say it, but this ad is not. I'm what (I think) should be the target market among the younger generation. Late 20s, solid stable job, but cost-conscious, EV-curious, etc.

Anyone under ~30 sees right through these paid ads as just that. Two "influencers" (never heard of them) getting paid to put out a 45s video for a product they don't care about.

That being said, Slate has done a great job with Guerrilla marketing- especially pre-launch. The younger gen responds much better to unconventional and semi-organic advertising, vs traditional.

All that aside, I don't see how this is a car for most buyers under 30-35. Limited range means home-charging is a near must. The median age for first-time homeowners is 38- the highest ever. Sure, some apartments have charging, but not all by any means. Additionally, someone who is thinking about starting a family, or already has one, would be very turned off by the lack of a rear door. Is it possible? Yes. But if your only vehicle for hauling the kids around is the Slate... good luck

I'm in that age group and I think this is a real miss. I hope Slate doesn't go down the influencer rabbit hole for marketing the way Aptera has. Someone who wants a barebones, DIY friendly EV more than likely doesn't care for social media and followers and all that rubbish.

If they're going to go for someone like the above at least find a YouTuber like Aging Wheels who does nothing but weird bare-bones EVs and get some positive press out of him and his EV loving followers.

The target age group on instagram will see right through this, as they have by the comment section lol.
