I like to make a proposal. A centralized thread/sub forum for discussion of non Slate accessories and mods.

So far this forum has numerous posts scattered about discussing these things. Too often in an unrelated item. Do believe I’m guilt of that.

Not a place to discuss what are clearly Slate concerns, AWD, 4 door, longer bed, those types of things requiring Slate engineering and detract from getting initial truck into production.

Not a place to whine about what you can get in a competitor product or don’t get with Slate.

Good place for the DYI er to suggest either something built or modded by the consumer or maybe suggestion for a low volume 3rd party that support DYI. 3D printed things

Good place to discuss other 3rd party, such as Donmar who have an interest in installing sun roofs, not DYI

Some ideas:

The addition of solar panels have been brought up in a number of fashions, augmented milage, augmented the 12 volt system, DYI, 3rd party. This discussion could benefit by sharing.

Front bench seat. While I mostly think this would be a Slate concern down the road, perhaps there is a DYI approach early on. Perhaps someone sees the production specs and can package a well thought out approach. Or maybe a solution offered by a 3rd party business.

Connectivity: Simply accessing internet via your phone will suffice for many. I want to explore an independent solution such as AT&T Mobley that provided cellular via OBD ll . Likely newer better available now.

If this were to catch on, perhaps the administrator would expand to a sub forum rather than a single thread.

pretty low cost, expect easy to do.
Never experience until my 2019 Ridgeline, didn’t have on wife’s 2016 Pilot. Found I really missed them when driving the Pilot. Do have them on current vehicles.

Another DYI, I’ll label as Security cameras for lack of better title.

My home security consists of Eufy cameras, solar/battery operated.
While I don’t expect to be harassed by the current anti Tesla morons, ability to monitor parking lot may be of value. What is more important would be a camera mounted with bed view to monitor my dogs.

The Eufy app gathers all my cameras and I can view via internet, so I would need an always on internet Likely a different discussion)

Cameras would need USB hub

App would be on my iphone/ipad.

Connectivity
Many of our accessories will involve connectivity
Power - 12 vdc switched and non switched.
Wireless - Wifi or Bluetooth
Internet - Intermittent or always connected.

Slate has hinted at some basics, but not in enough detail yet.

Power - what and maybe more importantly where. Will it be expandable? Can I connect an auxiliary source, maybe one of those lithium battery packs or a separate PV charged battery?
Wireless - Slate has talked about Bluetooth. What about wifi? Will the USB hub allow expansion?
Internet - many will be quite content with access via their phone. What about external connection? Current vehicles have ability for a cellular subscription. For years I have had AT&T Mobley ($23/mon) via ODB II. I can move the sim to another device which will give me an ethernet and port.
I’m thinking 1 or more of above will be important to many of us.

I keep thinking at some point, I’ll get a wrap that closely matches the blue of wife’s ’76 toyota pu. first choice might be Slate but honestly don’t know.
