I know this may upset a lot of folks but did you consider run flat tires? I would buy the standard tire setup and swap out with run flats. I may even consider more aggressively styled wheels and keep the original wheels in the garage. Run flats will get you home or to the next tire repair shop. You’re not going that far anyway with 150 mile range at best. No spare tire needed!

I'm getting the extended range battery, and I (hope to) use the truck lightly in the Arizona desert. I usually carry a spare and misc. emergency parts and supplies, however, this vehicle will be used much more lightly than my Taco.

Most new vehicles unfortunately don’t have spares, and most owners wouldn’t know how to put on a spare (not saying Slate owners will fit that demographic since the pickup is a DIY vehicle)

my work Jeep compass comes with a mini air compressor that has fix a flat built in

yag you can contact them and they mostly respond to question but I’m betting the fast back would come with the sears it feels more suv like then the regular but might be a option when production starts since I think as of now there is only 2 things that can’t be changed or maybe a bug never got a reply
1) you need the upgraded rear bumper for the spare tire
2) can’t get the spare tire with the fast back
So far those are the only two things in the configuration that you can’t go with it’s ether a bug or it is a requirement
no I was wrong it was a bug I just checked and you can have the tire with the fast back I am sorry for that
This is one of the first ones I customized. 😁

I'm hoping I'll be order the fastback as a topper for the truck bed, as I don't need or want the roll bar or rear seats. Also should make it a lot cheaper upgrade as well.

I've seen somewhere that the Squareback SUV Top has a removable roof panel. Is it the same with the Fastback top?

Also, it sure would be nice if the side windows have a hinged pop-open feature for ventilation.

TL;DR: Will the Fastback Top be more "aero" than the squared-off top?

I think "Fastback" originally got it name from being more aerodynamic and helping a car, well, go fast. Behold the Mustang Fastback with its nearly-horizontal rear window:

Apparently a normal squared-off topper is detrimental to aerodynamics compared to having no shell (open pickup bed). Knowing this, and knowing that a shape similar to a water droplet is aero

Do you think the Fastback Top is just for looks, or is its lopped-off notch in the back supposed to provide some aerodynamic benefit as well?
