I just notice that the tablet mount makes it where you can't open the dash drawer area. And if you get the right and left speakers it leaves very little dash storage areas. I was thinking of putting a iPad in the vehicle, but I'm thinking I'd rather have more storage area and a spot for my phone. What's your thoughts?

I will use my phone, but I want to mount it in landscape mode, not portrait. I’m also concerned that their phone mount shows a plug in the mount which would be horrible because of vibration issues.

What we've seen seems to be a prototype mount, maybe designed just for the iphone, and same with the tablet mount, one mount for one size of tablet. With that rail available as a mount point, There should be lots of mounting options. Possibly the storage doors can be moved around to work better with a tablet.

Just wondering what you are planning there for dash storage? Keep in mind that any items stored in the cubbies behind the doors can easily become projectiles in a collision. I understand we have been looking at prototypes, however the storage doors appear flimsy and will not contain unsecured cargo. Lightweight items might be ok, but storage in the lower door pockets or center console for heavier items is a better option.

From what i saw it's a universal mount meaning USB-C and it changes in width depending on your phone or tablet.

The basic idea of the Slate is that it's easily customizable, so grab a hacksaw :CWL:

It seems to have a fixed distance from the USB-C and one of the edges, and doesn't look like it will accommodate different thicknesses of devices, or device cases.

You might be right. In one of the early videos on first release she talked about how proud she was on the mount and how it’s fully universal. Let’s hope she didn’t steer me wrong.

It's possible what we've seen has been basic prototypes, and the real thing has already been designed and is universal. In any case, I expect that by the end of the year you will be able to find multiple mounts that mount to that rail.

True. The ID code or image name for the tablet mount is iPad which I thought was funny.

I'm going to keep my gold bars in the dash cubbies. Does that seem like a problem?

Looks like the t-track accessory rail is along the bottom lip of the storage. I’m hoping there’s RAM style MagSafe charging accessories or mounts I can install that curve away and up from the storage bin door so they are still accessible.
