Seriously though, how would Flock know one Blank Slate from another if someone steals the tags off of yours and puts it on another Blank Slate he just stole. LOL.And when we drive a Slate, nobody but Flock knows we exist.

I just take a picture of my odometer and then the gas pump whenever I get gas. I've been doing it consistently for the last 3+ years. (a little less consistent on the maintenance aspect). And I recently made a custom dashboard for myself using Python that takes all this data and makes a nice graph for me.I've recorded my mileage for 18 years in an app. They added ads and dropped location features a while back if you don't subscribe, I'd paid for the premium version way back, but still I can see MPG for every fuel up and lifetime averages over 2 vehicles in that time. Records all costs, purchase, maintenance, and fuel.
I did do a spreadsheet before that, but with this, no effort and I can see any kinds of graphs, highest and lowest MPGs and prices, etc. It's part of how I can tell a Slate will cost less to own.
Flock is pretty s#!tty about all the stuff they collect. Not just make, model, color, plate. But any distinguishing decals, bumper stickers, a window crack, noticeable scratches, parking passes, plus demographic details on any visible occupants. Plus, there's rumors of them teaming up with an RFID company so they can activate and log pet microchips, enhanced drivers licenses, airtags, and anything else that broadcasts a signal that may be traveling with you.Seriously though, how would Flock know one Blank Slate from another if someone steals the tags off of yours and puts it on another Blank Slate he just stole. That would take some pretty serious RFID power to do all that from the camera. I know people have demoed boosting the power to do that, but it's way out of spec. If all the flock cameras were doing that, it might do something like burn out RFID chips and open them up for a big class action suit with everyone from consumers to companies using RFID legitimately joining in.Flock is pretty s#!tty about all the stuff they collect. not intentionally trying to take this thread way off topic, but I'll just leave this link to the SignalTrace internal marketing flyer that outlines what they're saying their capabilities are, or at least what they want them to be.That would take some pretty serious RFID power to do all that from the camera. You sure about that? And when we drive a Slate, nobody but Flock knows we exist.
I'm sure flock is beyond the IR night vision cameras, and using a starlight type sensor. Even if they did use cameras that used IR illumination, that would just be another marker for your vehicle. You sure about that?

Same here Im going to have to think about how to update my system to an EV.I’ve thought about that. When I get gas I write:
date • mileage • posted gas price
gallons • total cost
