I know, I want the version that goes offroad, underwater, tires so big you need the escalator option just to get in.

But its not sensible.
SO? ship the sensible one first, aftermarket will take care of us all.
lol I’m getting 1940’s/50’s style corruption style commercial that says “ah look here the new slate simple! elegant! But what about those pesky other drivers well with this new folding blade those other uncouth drivers will know to stay away! Call now! to speaks with one of our fine sales representatives to see if you can include our fine mini Nuke option for half off my sale of the folding knife kit!” lol something like this with all the fun black and white tv style and audio kinda reminds of of the old Hanna Barbara car comedy skit

safety certification?
Most of the add-ons that will eventully be available will not need any such thing!

Colors that burn your grandma's eyeballs?
A lift kit that makes it unstable? just hand over the $$
A sound system that will make you deaf in a month, even cheaper!
Want to burn rubber? We'll help you pollute as much as your wallet can handle.
Body panels designed to mutilate pedestrians?
Battery upgrades that burn like fireworks?

And all you need to install any of this is a screwgun.

Hmmph. There is a cutoff at some point,
I just want a blank slate, nothing unusual.
Maybe I'm just a boring old guy who likes small pickups.

After all, first brand-new vehicle I ever bought was a Mazda B2200,
Close, very close.
exactly
Stay away from all these suggestions that modify the basic frame, have fun with the non frame changing accessories.

just another old guy
Wife had a 76 Toyota pu when I met her.

I suppose if I were in charge the slate would be a little larger in all dimensions especially the bed. AWD and more range. I know all of those things would add cost but I would pay extra for it.

And someone will take it to the track to see how fast it does a 1/4 mile
If it's anything like golf carts, someone will figure out how to modify the motor's windings to give it a bunch more torque and horsepower. Or maybe replace the stock motor with a different one.

There'll be hopped-up Slate Trucks. It's only a matter of time...

Hehe, I’ve had my days lusting for a dump bed, even wanted to modify trailer for one, but couldn’t. When I got my Kawasaki Mule, the bed dumps, but adding the hydraulic cylinder was almost $1000, so still by hand.

On the Bright Side, tilting a dump bed by hand builds character. ;)
