Suggested today that Slate tap into the 100k+ reservation population (us) and ask us to do simple surveys, less the 10 questions. One of those questions might be asking willingness to participate in more extension surveys covering marketing, tech, accessories, logistics, etc. maybe reward us for participation.

response
“Thank you so much for taking the time to share this, it's a very interesting idea!”

If Slate has gone as far as recently procuring a production facility and is preparing for a Q4 2026 delivery schedule, I'd day most all aspects and requirements of the product are already locked down. Any changes resulting from surveys at this point are just going to add cost.

According to the forum software XenForo
a poll function can be added
by forum administrators.

I've always been puzzled
why companies pay
marketing research firms
to conduct panels with 12 people
when an enthusiast forum
has thousands for free.

Any registered member on this forum can post a poll.
It's an option under "Post Thread"
Of course, the admin can also start a poll.
I've started a couple of polls and responded to many.

Mostly agree, but unless I missed something our reservations are strictly blank Slates, no input yet as far as batteries, Suv kits, wheels/tires or anything which might lead to so fine tuning.

Very true, have responded myself, but this is not an official site and does it have 100k members with a reservation? We are hoping someone at Slate is monitoring. In fact that was my primary purpose posting this thread.

I'm not sure that I agree with the wisdom of tapping into the masses. That's how you get back to only offering huge trucks with crew cabs and short beds. Slate seems to have smart people on their team with a solid vision for what they want to produce. They have obviously put WAY more thought into every detail than any of us have. Very few of us have even seen one in person. Let them work and we'll see what rolls off the line at the end of the process.

True, tapping into the masses would be massive mistake.
Survey only paid reservations.
Limit survey to known items/choices that Slate has already put out there.
People who won’t comply and have to play outside the box, just discard/ignore, maintain focus. If I’m painting something and ask you chose between my two choices of blue and you tell me orange, I’ll ignore you.

Could survey be useful? I know little to nothing about manufacturing other than working in a couple factories in my youth. Know even less about Slate manufacturing.
But… for example, apparently the primary choice of a blank Slate is battery size as apparently all else occurs after that build. My reading is all the blanks come off the line with same battery, standard. We are assuming installing the larger battery will be a swap situation at some point post production. What if they find there is high level of interest in the larger battery, such that it warrants installing them initially? Potentially saving time and money?

Maybe survey mix of SUV/topper styles?

My point is maybe a couple smart surveys help fine tune what Slate is planning, not derail with foolishness. I’m sure those folks are already sending emails to Slate and posting here.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Slate (and virtually anyone with an internet connection) already has access to all our reservations and preferences, if we’ve posted them on the Slate Reservations and Tracking List on this forum.

Everyone can see our preferences for pickup only, base or larger battery, SUV option, and wrap. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if Slate employee(s) or even the management team is casually trolling the dialogue herein.

maybe I’m wrong
The info you refer to is a few hundred on this forum, not Slate, very limited and possibly limited value. less than .05% of the real database.

I’m referring to the Real, Only official list of 100k+ Reservations which the way I read the FAG is strictly a place holder at this time. I surely don’t recall making design choices related to my reservation.
This unofficial list may be interesting, but definitely not definitiv.

From Slate

How do I reserve and personalize a Slate?

Getting your perfect Slate is easy as 1, 2, 3:
  • 1. Now: reserve a spot.  $50 (fully refundable) holds your spot in line—no need to design anything yet. We’ll let you know when it’s time to order.
  • 2. Later: make it yours.  When it’s time to order, pick your battery and pre-installed accessories like wraps or an SUV Kit. You can always explore how accessories will look in the Slate Maker, but you don’t need to worry about purchasing them until ordering opens. So, feel free to let your imagination run wild.
  • 3. Anytime: add & swap accessories.  Use the Slate Maker to pick and purchase accessories. You can add, upgrade and swap accessories whenever you want—even after you own it.

I doubt Slate has it. Where does Slate have it? Your link does not give a link supporting 100k+ Reservations. All we see are claims.
