Already found some solid manufacturing options for stuff like the rearview mirror module. Cost is still high due to import tariffs, but it’s on my list of products to eventually sell.

As for power, we’ll need to wait until we get a Slate in-hand to properly test and plan wiring. The power window kits themselves are already figured out—we just need to scan our Slate when it arrives so we can design a center module that looks right and fits clean.

The goal is to use aluminum switches, likely just two for a minimal, clean layout. But we’ll have to see once we start prototyping.

I’ll keep you posted. Without having one to scan or a confirmed wiring path, it’ll be a little while after Slates start arriving before this gets finalized and ready to ship.

OK so now the big reveal is over, and Slate is moving into production facilities in Indiana. But even if all goes well, Slate won't actually start delivering vehicles until late 2026, about 18 months from now. So there may not be a lot of news to discuss for a while.

However, one thing will be happening in the interim: Slate is taking its show on the road. The "Slate Tour" currently includes scheduled events at the following locations for June 2025:

June 4: Olympia WA
June 11: Portland OR
June 14: Salem OR
June 19: Salt Lake City UT
June 21: Detroit MI

None of those are convenient for me, but hopefully some people here will be able to attend and report back. Would hope that Slate has actual prototype vehicles available to check out, but no details about the events have been posted yet, just the dates and locations.
Wonder why those places? I guess they are getting a lot of pre-orders from WA, OR area,...UT?

They need to come south, where we use trucks and have a mini-truck culture, and where Chevy El Caminos, S10s, and Ford Rancheros, F100s, Gen2-3 Rangers are still on the road.
San Diego, CA, Phoenix, AZ, Austin/San Antonio, TX. We have EVs here too. Show Elon how not to make an ugly truck in his new backyard.

^ I'm really hoping they do a Texas tour sometime soon. Between Dallas/Ft.Worth, San Antonio, and Austin, there's a huge truck and EV buyer base here.

Honestly the best Supplier for aftermarket power dimming mirrors would be Gentex, they're made in Zeeland, MI and provide either their generic power dimming mirrors to Nissan / Hyundai, or proprietary power dimmers for Ford. I know the first thing I'll be doing is putting a Crown Vic or Nissan Armada mirror in mine!
