If I can get a fastback cargo kit I may want to put a hatch or sun/moonroof in the top of the cargo panel. Either to use for ventilation when camping in the back or as a passthrough to climb up into a rooftop tent without leaving the vehicle. But I would want a spare top panel w/o the opening for when I'm not camping, to reduce leaking opportunities. I wonder if Slate (or third parties) could/will make roof panels with sunroofs already in them, just swap your easily removable panels an you are all set.

It's funny how differing the opinions are on this topic!

We had an '02 MINI 2-Door with 275k miles on it and we currently have my '15 MINI 2-Door with 216k miles. The thought of a leak never occurred to me.

The entire roof is tinted glass. We absolutely love it. Add to that an inside screen that can be opened or closed on either the front or rear section.

Even though you can't really see out, it helps open up the small cabin of the Cooper.

For that reason I'd love to have a fixed, tinted moon roof on the truck. 🌖

But I won't consider aftermarket.

Pretty sure roof panel, like the hood, is glued to the steel structure. Not really swappable.

For what it's worth, my Model 3 has a glass roof. My nickname for the car in the Summer months is Easy Bake. My recent high interior temperature (that I noticed) was 157℉. Yes, window shades are called for - it's just an example of the automotive 'greenhouse effect'. In practical use, as a driver I never look up and enjoy the view; I'm always looking at the road and my surroundings.

I believe the roof panel is replaceable, but the size of the cab roof, and the fixed cab roll cage around the roof probably kills any sun/moon roof idea.

I am hoping for a bronco/jeep style aftermarket softtop that has a replacement roof panel and then either a bikini top for truck or a fastback soft cover.

Slate told me way back in an email that the pickup roof panel is the fully bonded to the steel structure. Allegedly @DONMAR Sunroofs was in talks with them about becoming a sunroof supplier. However they haven't posted in a while.

I am hoping that the cab roof panel is DYI replaceable. I would seriously consider getting one and a universal sunroof and either install myself or take to local body shop.

Donmar was an early contributor and I kinda got my hopes up.
