If they've got the line capability for two versions I could see them doing that. Automakers before have kept old models around purely for fleet or customer demand, even when the new model is already out.They are already talking about gen 2 and gen 3 of the slate, I would be surprised if they don't keep and outgoing model around for a discount. Let's say they announce gen 2, I could see the Gen 1 stick around for months to a year at like 15-18k
Chevrolet kept the outgoing Malibu as the "Malibu Classic" as it was a rental car fleet dream despite the new generation of the same name being sold along side it and Ford kept the Aerostar a few years longer than planned post-Windstar due to customer demand.
