Watching this secured the “we are doing everything to make the car affordable, reliable, then customizable in that order. This is why I don’t understand why so many people think they are going to randomly raise the price. They would rather sell you nothing then completely fail their main mission.

You have a head of design who left Automotive because she couldn’t do her one thing “affordable reliable vehicle” then came back solely to build only that

Bait and switch among car manufacturers has been going on for years. Consumers have come to expect it. I think they will be pleasantly surprised when Slate comes in on time and on price, and that will have positive effects for the brand all up.

On color being popular, 2 reasons.
One, it's the first option besides choosing the preset vehicle designs.
Second, color selections have gotten very limited on most vehicles. Even in 2000, green was a commonly available color on dealer lots, even in compact cars, now it's nearly nonexistent.

Not sure if everyone would agree. Green is making a big comeback!

I was at the NY Auto Show yesterday and found many new models in green, especially from VW and Genesis. Also a quick search reveals these examples; Ford’s Eruption Green, Volkswagen Atlas Green, Genesis emerald green, Kia has Jungle Green, Porsche in Lizard Green, Mini Cooper in British Racing Green, and Lexus in Nori Pearl Green, Chevrolet with Cacti Green on the Trax, Equinox, and Trailblazer.

Colors have been making a come back over the last fee years. Jeep/CDJR as a whole never really gave up, but they where kinda on their own with that

You can have it any color as long as it’s black, white, silver, and sometimes red or we might throw in a blue one here and there. But it seems 95% of production is black , white, or silver.

The trims that Tesla formerly referred to as Standard a month ago are only available in grayscale.(white, black, silver and gray). Have to upgrade to premium to get red or blue. It’s been awhile since Tesla sold a green Model S.

My favorite car color is GM's Emerald Green Metallic which I got on my Solstice back in 2006. I fell in love with the color back in high school when someone I knew had a 68 camaro with it. So slick.

This truck built is on the old Henry Ford Model T idea. Everything basic and one color to chose from.

Watching this video reminded me of my first ever car- a 1960 Rambler American. It was a mildly restyled version of the 1950-55 Nash Rambler, the first successful American compact car. So successful that it spawned a song by the Playmates where the Nash challenged-and beat- a Cadillac in a road race. I was big and tall in high school but the Rambler fit me and four of my buddies for many a teen age adventure. The Slate seems aimed similarly to the Rambler, building a small, reliable car that the Big Three wouldn’t or couldn’t deliver. The personal irony for me is that my first car, and what may potentially be my last, are scant inches apart in dimensions. The Rambler had a 100 inch wheelbase, was 176 inches long and 73 inches wide. Slate? 108, 174, 70. Maybe I’ll wrap my Slate the way my Rambler was painted, Frost White top over Westchester Green body….

This ANDDD, henry comes around once a week and ask if you would like a cab extension, or different wheel, any stickers, new seat material? All without having to get a new vehicle, all able to be done on the farm from the same people who use that Model-T to get to town

Car shows are a bad example, you will see stuff there that never makes it to the street. Many cars have a limited palette available, especially if you go for a lower trim. Green was just an example, because it is a color that went from being available on most cars not that long ago, to nearly gone. My 2000 Ford Focus was green. The point with the Slate and it's color options is you can get any green you want. Forest green, kelly green, olive green, pea green, lime green, on and on. Then multiply those by gloss, flat and satin finishes.
They aren't even showing options yet I'm sure they will have like metallics, pearl effects, gold flake, multicolor, etc.
