gonna be a long 16 months…

maybe I’ll be contrarian and get power windows? And then turn around and take the doors off?

I’m already daydreaming about putting a seat from an X5 for the driver’s seat….just gotta wire it. The rest of the seats can be whatever.

Crank windows not rolling down fully makes sense. But, I am not sure the automatic add-on will solve it.

Much preference for the windows to roll all the way down.

Looking at all of the random Slate appearances, and that video touting the crank windows with the muscle-armed lady, that's looking like it's gonna only go that far down. That's as low as the window ever is in any of the other pictures and videos.

Are there examples of *any* other car with front windows that don’t go down fully? That would seriously cramp my style of driving with my elbow out the window.

Only windows I remember growing up that didn’t crank all the way down were rear windows.

I looked around at some of the other trendy-designed EVs and some oddball cars and couldn't find one. Heck, part of what I had read about the Subaru SVX's window-in-a-window design was so they COULD roll all the way down for the driver:

The marketing vehicle we're displaying is essentially a large model car and is meant to represent Slate's current form visually and does not use production components. The production version will utilize off-the-shelf parts.

This means the window functionality you're seeing on our prototype isn't representative of what you'll get in the actual production truck. We'll be releasing final specifications for all features, including window operation for both standard and automatic options, when production begins in 2026.

Thanks for bringing this up! It's a great example of why we want to be clear about the difference between our display model and the final product!

This is part of the problem where everyone is looking real close at details at these events, These are basically hand built prototypes, and each one probably has differences, and none will match the final product.
