I just noticed this the other day. I think Slate employees really are on this forum. Seems like every few days something changes(for the better) on there. I'm all for it!Did the whiteout kit get added to the slate maker recently? I don’t remember seeing it hence the request for a white roof option with this post.

Vinyl flexes.I saw a gen1 International Harvester Scout last night with a white top, now I want one.
Wrap only? Wraps are really wrong. I used to do color changes on rich people's cars, which is a terrible idea in general. Expensive, and not long-lasting, especially on plastic bits, and this vehicle is ALL plastic panels. GM's Saturn brand painted plastic door panels traditionally, but had lots of issues because plastic flexes and paint does not.

The Slate is more “Scout” looking than the Scout.I saw a gen1 International Harvester Scout last night with a white top, now I want one.

Slate is more Scout that Scout. Thanks for the history lesson.Slate is basically an electric Scout 800, with Scout II modularity.
The Scout II had that slanted back window that the new one will copy. The Scout 800 was nicknamed "figidere" as it was boxy, tiny, and often all white (like most kitchen appliances at the time). The Scout II came with the same configurations Slate will offer, with a removable bulkhead so dealers or people at home could configure it differently than it came off the line. Sound familiar? The new Scout will offer truck or SUV versions separately, using their Terra and Traveler nameplates from the past, but not configurable at home. Scout 800 had a cabriolet version and a safari top, the later one had a camper shell that was popular in the 80s.
Slate owners will be able to have different styles with the same VIN rather than having to buy another model. It's almost like a Scout fan listened to everything VW/Scout is doing and looked at what Scout used to do and said they would do it the old way, but with an EV, plastic, and no chrome/paint, or 4x4.
It will make for interesting car reviews if they both get to market by 2027ish and someone can compare them side by side with old Scouts.

The new Scout seems more like a repackaged Rivian than the old Scout reborn. The key difference being the EREV Harvester model which Rivian does not have. Also the Rivian is unibody and the Scout is body on frame with a solid rear axle. Both use the same tech…and a lot of it.Slate is more Scout that Scout. Thanks for the history lesson.
