What Would You Do if The Slate Truck Does Not Manifest?

We currently have a fleet consisting of a Rivian R1T and a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado Duramax 2500. We also tow a 25' Airstream Travel Trailer with both of our trucks. Later this year, we plan to replace the Duramax with a Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss and go total electric.

We put a deposit on a Slate on the first day, and a truly excited about the concept. Assuming that the Slate comes to pass, we sell the Rivian and replace it with the new Slate. Even though the Slate cannot pull the Airstream, it can fulfill the Rivian's other duties.

We greatly appreciate the concept of the Slate. We plan to leave our Slate just as it comes from the Factory.

If the Slate does not make it to the finish line, it will be a shame as the country really needs the Slate. I, for one, will be greatly disappointed if the Slate fails. If the Slate does not appear on my driveway, I will keep the Rivian and proceed.

You actually have a working E53 ?

My 2001 E53 was long gone by 2005 when the repairs became excessive.

The worst were the rear tire camber that wore out 20" tires like TP.

I did love the traction - the 60:40 front rear power was amazing - true road magnet!

This question sent my imagination to overdrive. My plan is to replace a MINI Cooper S EV with the Slate. Then I remembered John Cooper made a MINI pickup Photo of one. Maybe I could cut the back open and have a truck. Then reality returned and I will drive the wheels off the MINI.

Not weird at all, serious Slate folks don’t have Maverick on their radar.

I suspect those reviewers don’t have a clue as to the draw of the Slate.
sure, the EV vs ICE for some (many)
the blank Slate philosophy - relief from the forced “features” we don’t want
the DYI - i would never consider bringing a new/almost new vehicle in my garage and purposely do something that would void the warranty, threaten resale value, attempt to modify in some way that fails, etc. i don’t see any of those drawbacks with a Slate, even should I destroy a panel doing a mod, most likely there will be a reasonable repair or even replacement at tolerable cost. Potential that just doesn’t exist on a Maverick or others unless you are a competent, skilled person.

If you make a comparison table listing Slate features in one column and then other vehicles in adjacent columns, it becomes obvious pretty quickly that no other vehicle checks the same boxes as Slate.

Unfortunately, I think the Scout decently equipped is going to be $75K.

I was thinking the same thing. The EV only should be a bit cheaper and I won’t need all the extras. Hoping it will be in the low 60’s.

Wow in a similar comparison, that's like me trying to order a Ford Lightning EV for $39K (Pro trim) but needing all the extra stuff (bells & whistles) for a $100K (Platinum trim).

I ended up with a Lariat trim for $70K

I actually thought about a Maverick Hybrid and test drove one before I took delivery of my 22 MachE. I hated the feel of the front wheel drive. Price was nice as I would have saved or $10k and could pimp it out without guilt but mehh, Maverick was not for me. I have a real truck, looking for a daily toy truck I can beat on that I enjoy driving.

On the list for a Scout SUV but just do not feel that is happening for me.
