Or it's a marketing gimmick and they announce a lower price next week!
It's not too late for them to say "25k? That's the ER version! We're taking a page from Rivian and shipping the expensive trim first."

The pride is gone in so many things chasing after profit. "Made in USA" means nothing to me anymore. If it's made here AND it's good? Fantastic. If it's made elsewhere and it's good? That's great, too.
Agreed.

Once upon a time my son was at the age where watching atomic bomb videos on youtube was fun. We watched one together, and then I said, guess where our minivan was made? Hiroshima!

Lying to and manipulating your customers does not not create brand loyalty. Nothing Slate has done suggest this is a ploy.

I wonder if Slate will offer up a pick up option at the factory for those who live close or are willing to drive there to take delivery? Maybe even a fly in and shuttle service? A visit to the Slate store for some merch with all the money saved not having it transported… Make it an event for all the fans that have been patiently waiting. I think that would be cool.
At some point Slate did mention they were going to create a Customer Experience Center at Warsaw. That would fit perfectly with a pickup option at the factory.

They could then call it the…
“Pickup the Pickup Program”

Remarkably similar to my estimation a year ago. If I really pimp it out, it will top $40K all in….tires, lifts, spare, shipping, TTL…
This is mine, minus the bed topper and likely a few small extras

Exactly why haven’t you gotten the same hate I did for pointing that out 24k with extended battery I am still a very likely buyer but 25k base then another 2 for larger battery I am out
<rant on>
I get being enthusiastic about a simple 2 door pickup. I do. folks import k-trucks for a reason … not many units but they do.

But the market has proven that most small 2 doors have gone extinct. I want Slate to succeed which means they need volume. They need to disrupt. In general market terms, 2 door pickups are only like 3% of all truck sales in the US. Less than 1% of EVs have 150 mile range or less. Odds already stacked against them.

It looks cool. Modularity is awesome. Right to repair is a huge win. Simplicity is refreshing approach. But I’m worried that slate is confusing loud forum hype for mass market volume.

so this is my lame attempt to influence Slates direction through wishful thinking. They’ve already decided to buck the trend on door count. I’m hoping they don’t roll the dice on low battery range at $25k.

$23k short range. $25k extended range. Yes please.

I’m planning on tons of those fun upgrades. so if we have to shell out ~$28k for 240 miles the math starts failing apart pretty quickly from a market adoption perspective in my opinion.

and yes, while the average number of occupants is only 1.5 people per vehicle … we still like to keep the tools dry and the groceries not eaten by the dog in the cab so most slate owners will need the suv kit too. <rant off>

I have my spreadsheet from July 2025 to get back to and will wait for June 24th. But now I can a least fill in a tentative for the the base model.

Love the list! and glad it fits your budget. Was a beautiful equation when fed tax credits existed. I just think it’s about $5k overpriced compared to other small truck options

it’s like saying, sure I’d be happy to spend $550,000 on materials to build that $500,000 house myself. Huh? Why would you tell Slate that?

If they are keeping an eye on these forums to test the market thru these price leaks before launch … we might have room to negotiate still. :)

I’m saying $25k no frills truck should be the target. You’re saying $29k for no frills is fine. And you hallucinated $20k but that’s ok it’s late.

I made no such statement
you should reread your own quote : “ I just think it’s about $5k overpriced compared to other small truck options” show us those existing options, please. $24950 is a no frills truck.

folks we’re in violent agreement about wanting the slate.

I responded to Motorola’s shared spreadsheet telling Slate they’d gladly pay $25k for the blank and $4k for extended battery before they announced pricing. That’s one shrewd negotiating tactic. LOL

Really? Show me

now there is a good likelihood you find a quote that the extended battery over $2500 would be a challenge based on $10 payback speadsheet., but didn’t post that SS either.
