Who else is disappointed

As someone who likely wasn't gonna buy anyway: only sorta disappointed. Really overall it looks like what I expected.

It's still a really cool truck at a great price that's easily repairable that cuts out the dealer model. The vehicle parts of the Slate truck are great. Except for maybe omitting power windows from launch. That's a head scratcher.

My main disappointments are with the electric side of the vehicle. Like, it sounds as if you can't turn off one pedal driving at present? That's pretty lame. Also sounds like blended braking won't make it either. No V2L also is a big miss for me personally. I'm actually OK with the range. 200 is plenty for me. Though I can see being disappointed in the lack of a higher end battery.

How do you figure? I am seeing posts with people in the "First Shift" delivery window and actual date ranges. My pre-order status simply says "Delivery Window Coming Soon" which gives me the impression of a Ticketmaster'esq queue. Would I have been in the "First Shift" had I completed my pre-order in the minutes following go-live? I guess I just don't like vagueness. It still would have been nice of Slate to have added to the multiple email notification(s) Pre-Orders Go Live at 8am Eastern on 6/24.

No, first shift and delivery window has to do with when you reserved, not when you pre-ordered today.

Yes. I hit the "Pre-Order" button about 10 seconds after the web site changed and I immediately had no window given (except for 2027). It was predestined.

I learned this the hard way with my Day 1 Rivian reservation. North Carolina is one of the worst states for direct-to-consumer auto sales. I know people in SC that reserved a full year after I reserved on day 1 and got an allocation 10 months before I did.

I don't think I'd say "disappointed" but I am still holding off, probably for a few years. While it would be great to replace my R1T with the Slate, I am just too tired of taking in a vehicle from a new manufacturer. Even living in a major metropolitan area, it's a hassle to drop off and pick up. With Slate's repair network and warranty process still very much up in the air, it remains to be seen just how serviceable they will be. Their stance on right to repair is really admirable though, and I hope it works out. With as simple as they should be, hopefully there is just less that will go wrong, and that which does fail can be easily and quickly fixed.

It was the right move for Slate to consolidate to a single battery pack. And to meet the impressively low price, LFP is the way right now. I just have little charge left in my own early adopter battery.

If Slate offers a lease in a few years, it'll be easier to swing back. That's what got me into a Rivian, and I'm glad I did. For now, my plan is to go back to a Ridgeline + EV next year, very likely a slightly used Mini Cooper SE that gets barely more than half of the Slate's range.

Meanwhile, they made a big balleyhoo about the new VinFast dealership nearby. That place can suck rocks and eggs for all I care. VinFast is screwing NC. NC is now sueing VinFast. It is a mess.

But, by golly, we got a dealership. Hip, hip hooray! NC Dealer Association rejoices! Ef 'em.

I gotta say, I’m 99 percent thrilled. So glad the battery situation doesn’t make this a 30k plus base car.

I’m not so much as disappointed as more happy others will be able to enjoy this truck with what it provides for them. Maybe disappointment that I am looking more for the extended range and get to reset my joy of waiting to see Slate announce more things in the future.
There are tons of cool accessories and folks can add what they want to their hearts desire. So much to pour over with all that was announced today.

I was on that VinFast list too. Saw the first reviews (horrible) and called back my $400 deposit. And I am currently on the Scout list as well. So I am/have been on ; Rivian (day 1), VinFast (day 3), Scout (day 1) Slate (day 2). I guess I really want to be an "early adopter" of an EV truck or SUV ; ). In all likelihood I'll pass on the Scout if the Slate delivers on time. A tidy little EV truck/SUV (rather than a full size one) with a 200 mile range that is somewhat peppy will likely serve me just fine during my days at the beach. No kids to haul around these days. Jut bikes, boards and some honey-do project supplies.

There's a good-sized bunch of Tesla charges on the "toe" Like maybe 10 or 12. Never really counted before but I think I am close.

Why is there a exhaust pipe in the bed then a exhaust pipe under the body pointing in the wrong direction
