Sales tax is generally charged at registration in the destination state if it wasn’t paid on purchase…
Very true, but I have to ship thru San Diego and apparently CA has some rules that can trip the tax, depending on the transportation.

I’m not above crowdsourcing a corporate apartment in Warsaw with an actual address for my new GA Slate Consortium.

Want to test drive a Slate? Stay at the apartment!

Want to receive your Slate in December? Stay at the apartment!

Want to top off your Slate on the Level 3 charger? Come by the apartment for a hat, soft drink and fast electrons!

Sounds like a sound plan with very few downsides? (Except for the Slate minions who monitor this site? This is David’s idea…I swear.)

Great idea! What could possibly go wrong?

Can you take delivery in SC or GA and then transfer in? (I figure that's a stretch)
I'll wait for them to figure things out before I would push that. I know Rivian has done some of that with NC people.

There are some NC folks with Q2 windows and suspect they are near the state line and can pick them up.

What do they say! I don’t have TikTok so I can’t indulge
I refuse to take part in making you dumber; just suffice it to say the majority of comments are not favorable toward Slate, for all of the dumbest reasons.

I think any window past June 2027, i.e. "2027" is just Slate waiting to see how many early Reservationists (April and May 2025) are stepping up to pre-order. Once the 30 days is up on July 24, 2026, the pre-orders with a "2027 window" will get a real 3-month window in 2027; July - Sept, or Oct - Dec.

Based on the data in the preorder form, I don't think this fully tracks, but I also have a small sample size.

It seems like most regions with a significant amount of orders (>5) [yes I know this isn't statistcally significant] have multiple delivery windows. Here are the states with >5 orders without multiple delivery windows

Mi (5-Q1)

Here are the states with >5 orders with multiple delivery windows

Tx (5 q1, 2-Q2, 2-TBD)
FL (11 Q1, 1 -TBD)
IN (3 - Q1, 1- Q2, 1-TBD)
WA (4-Q1, 1-Q2,1-TBD)
VA (2-Q2, 3-TBD)
Ca (13 -Q1, 3 Q2, 8 TBD).

I think there's likely multiple factors like reservation time, distance to location, etc that go into account. It'd be difficult to tell without someone from slate confirming.
Problem there is the regions slate will ship to are too small, and we've only got states. Slate wouldn't be allocating by state. If we were mapping it out by zip code it might make more sense. Even if we had that kind of data, some of those pre-orders were late enough that an allocation for a distribution may be filled, so even in the same location, you've got wave 2-3 people.

New here after just learning about the forum through Google AI. And even more so, just found out about the Slate truck last week on Linkedin news blurb. Since then have done a huge deep dive and surprised I missed the fanfare about Slate over the last year. Anyway, locked in and loaded for hopefully getting one at the tail end of 2027. This company reminds of Saturn of which I owned 4 vehicles over the short industry existence. Looking for Slate to do much better.

Wow, you skipped reservation and went right to pre-order. Congrats. Your path is like mine. I found out about Slate this February and learned I knew nothing about something that was a year long internet sensation. Funny thing is I visit reddit, so you'd think I'd run into it. But I have a lot of ad suppressors. I don't do Facebook which is apparently where Slate pushed hard.

Also, I welcome another ex-Saturn owner. I was a very early adopter of a Saturn SL2. And I too watched in horror as GM tortured it and finally killed the brand. Let's hope Slate has a different path (well it does already, since it is an independent startup).
