Looks the backup lines are fixed like the original backup cameras that came out years ago.

Wow. This is a fake! Backup cameras show a reverse image as you would see in a rear view mirror. The word “YES” should be reversed…. “SEY”.

Why is “ambulance” is spelled backwards on front of emergency vehicles. So it displays correctly in you rear view mirror and camera. Honestly I expected more from Slate.

If you don’t believe me, try this in your current vehicle. Look at a sign or road markings in your backup camera and tell me what you see.

This is an official video posted by Slate, which I assume isn't being faked?

Didn’t say the video is fake. Just the image in the display is fake. They thought nobody would notice.

Confirmed that yes, my backup camera shows a reverse image.

But that doesn't mean that the image in the video is fake. Maybe Slate's video team was aware of this effect, and deliberately painted "SEY" on the pavement, so that it would look like "YES" in the video.

As you point out, ambulances are labelled with deliberately reversed lettering, so that it shows up correctly in a reverse image. Slate's video team could have used the same simple trick.

Correct, I guess seeing a “mirrored” word on the backup screen wouldn’t have the same dramatic effect.

Joking aside, I worry that the screen is very small and probably low resolution. It would be cool if the video could be mirrored to an ipad when using the connected app.

I recently put in a backup camera and it defaulted to showing reverse view (like this video). I had to cut a wire to get it to project properly. This is probably from a demo camera which is why its showing the reverse video feed.

I agree with others that this video feed is very small and the resolution is pretty poor. I'm hoping that Slate offers a bunch of car controls to be accessible from an app that you can install on your tablet "infotainment" system that the owner provides. Hopefully one of those controls will be the back up camera feed.

I'm not too worried about the quality or resolution. The truck is small enough with clear body lines that backing up should be a non issue, especially coming from a Z71 Silverado with a canopy. Backup cameras, while nice, are a tool and not a crutch imo.
