When they announced pricing would be released on June 24th, I contacted Slate and asked them if the extended range battery would be listed. The reply was that it would not and that would be listed just before placing your order.
i contacted them again and said the most people would be hesitant to put down another $250 without that information.
This is the reply I got back:
“Hi Tim,

We hear your frustration and we want to make sure you have the full picture.

On June 24th, when pre-orders open, full pricing will be announced at the same time. That means you'll see the exact cost of the base truck, the extended battery, and every accessory and kit before you're asked to make any non-refundable commitment. Nobody is being asked to commit blind.

So the $300 non-refundable step and the full pricing disclosure happen on the same day, in that order. You see the numbers first, then decide if you want to move forward. Your $50 reservation is fully refundable right up until that moment.

We completely understand the hesitation and we think June 24th will give you everything you need. We'll make sure your feedback is passed along to the team.

Best,

STEPHEN
SENIOR SLATE AGENT | SLATE
833.HI.SLATE”

then I got a followup to that when I replied about how o was glad it changed because the extended range battery and power windows were the only things I really wanted:

“Hi Tim,

Yes, that has changed! June 24th is when we'll have important pricing and product information available.

And good news on the accessories side. When you place your pre-order the focus is on selecting your body style and battery. You don't need to lock in accessories like the power window kit or anything else until closer to your delivery. So you'll have plenty of time to think through those details without any pressure.

Hope that puts your mind at ease!

Best,

STEPHEN
SENIOR SLATE AGENT | SLATE
833.HI.SLATE”

So Slate is listening to us and making changes.

"... the $300 non-refundable step and the full pricing disclosure happen on the same day, in that order..."

If Stephen is saving this reply as a canned message , then this needs clarification. As it is, it states that the deposit step is prior to price disclosure. I know it is splitting semantic hairs but somebody will misinterpret this.

The clarification is on the very next line..
“You see the numbers first, then decide if you want to move forward.”
He also said this in the previous paragraph
“That means you'll see the exact cost of the base truck, the extended battery, and every accessory and kit before you're asked to make any non-refundable commitment.”
This is what Slate has said before, you will see the prices before you have to put your deposit in. I think the line you nitpicked out he just misspoke.

but for your satisfaction I asked him to clarify again. Waiting on his reply

This is kind of typical for Slate. In the past, some Slate agents were disseminating false information and others, mixed signals. Only upon reaching out a second or third time, you received clarification. It is certainly reassuring that we'll have all pricing in front of us before committing to a preorder. And there is no real schedule advantage to click "buy it now" as we have until July 24 to make a decision. You don't lose your place in line until July 25th or thereafter.

At this point I'm just wondering what the delivery projection looks like.
Will we receive will be a 30-day definitive range like March 15-April 15, 2027.
I sincerely doubt any of us will take delivery in CY2026.

And a big thank you to @EV Trek for getting this sorted out!

I got another clarification on this.

“
Hi Tim,

Thank you for asking for clarity.

Pricing will be available on June 24th and it's visibility is not contingent on you pre-ordering first.

Stay Tuned!”

I would have preferred if they said:

Pricing AND DELIVERY DATES will be available on June 24th and it's visibility is not contingent on you pre-ordering first.

I really have to hand it to the Slate Customer Service crew, wading through all of the repetitive, sometimes complex, sometimes rediculous messages and requests they must receive every day. I have yet to hear of someone NOT getting some sort of personal, non-automated reply from them.

That information has been repeated many times and was in the E-mail I got when they announced that the prices would be available on the 24th.
Since delivery date information was not in my request that was a unnecessary piece of information.

I think that's an unrealistic expectation. I can't imagine how Slate could commit to a hard 30-day window before they even get into production. I expect any calendar dates they provide will be estimates only and subject to change.

No range for delivery dates have been given, 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, at this point who knows, but on the 24th we should know what the spread is.

Nor is there any reason to expect everybody will get the same size window. Some might get a 30 day window while others get a 3 month window for example.

I'm expecting some people to be told "first quarter of 2027" while others are told "sometime in the first two quarters of 2027".
