dash storage

Was wondering if the center and outer speaker "tip up" to use the storage space?

with small depth out speakers / maybe tweeters makes sence you could tip up the panel to use the storabe behind it.

This could all become a moot point in about 3 months. All of the recent prototypes have the entire dash fully covered for a reason. My guess is that the most requested items (radios and power windows) just might end up as standard features after all! Another happy suprise?

ah, prefer the roll windows personally but no biggie there. I'd be replacing any 'radio' they put in anyway so I hope not

@CEW had an excellent video she posted yesterday from the Portland event. The dash and panels were uncovered, but you could see the velcro attachment points where there was supposed to be a dash pad. The dash and storage cover looked wrong. Wrong color, wrong texture. It was probably some prototype parts. I'm pretty sure that's why they are covering them.

Agree with Tubes. No way at this point they are adding a radio and window cranks to the base Slate. Why folks keep ’trying to add to the base’, is beyond me. Its a huge reason why this platform works!

I think I'd actually be pissed off if they add the radio. I want all that storage back there. I have tape measures, flashlights, markers, snacks, emergency water, fresh t-shirt, a small tool kit, etc. that will go there.

I was at the ride-along event in Portland yesterday. I has some similar questions for the Slate staff.

Center speaker - I specifically asked about available space behind the center speaker. I was told there is no space availabe behind the center speaker. The woman said it uses all of the vailable space. I saw an online photo (can't find it now) that shows the center speaker cover tilted up, and it revealed two speakers behind it installed in the dash. I do not know if that is the production unit.

Left outer speaker - I asked specifically if the cover tilts up. I was told by a male slate employee that was described as an engineer, that the left blank cover does not hinge up, it snaps into holes in the dash using posts in the cover.

Right outer speaker - I overheard a discussion between a Slate employee and someone looking at the truck about the outer speakers. I heard one of the Slate employees say that the right outer speaker takes up half of the storage space, leaving the other half of the space for storage. Looking at the maker options, I don't see a split in the right speaker cover. I do see holes in the right half of the cover. I am guessing that the right speaker cover tilts up to reveal the speaker on the right and a small amount of storage space between the center speaker and the right speaker. It is possible there might be a small amout of space behind the right speaker.

I was told they had the speaker options on display outside at the ride-along area the first of the event. I was hoping to get a better look at the two speaker options, but I did not see the display. The engineer said they had to put it away for "certain reason".

I think im the only one in my family that drives with open windws - if it isn't 69 + or - 2 degrees everybody else has them tightly shut.

I got a smart car - i like the cubby holes on both side of the steering wheel wher i can just toss stuff...

Ive seen work trucks with top of dash loaded with all kind of #$@ that person could use all the space.

wonder if a left cubby could be installed?
