We are still around 5 months from anyone actually being able to finalize a shopping cart and click a checkout button. I think the maker is still basically in preview mode. At some point I do expect a major refresh, where everything gets prices, more details, views, links to install pages, etc.
That’s what I was explaining to a friend. My $36K build is really a $38K build bc of several key unpriced features…

I'm not certain whether the audio takes up the entire storage space and prevents you from accessing it. Still, one of the "expected" cabin elements I had to realize was missing on the Slate is a glovebox, and that role seems to be filled by the dash panels (especially with the option of a lockable compartment). If you lose dash panel storage...

There's gotta be a way to add more forward-mounted storage. Maybe a sort of flat and thin plastic bin that fits the curve/angle under the dash to give you some extra document hoarding space (like a pizza box with a flap on one end) for the manuals and such.
You can get the lockable glovebox if you don't get the side speakers. I am considering this; however, I am curious to hear how well the center speaker sounds with and without the side speakers

FYI, Slate says:

The speaker system does utilize some of the dash storage space, but we're still finalizing the details. We'll have more to share as we get closer to production, including details on how it integrates with the dash.
Guess we just have to wait and find out. Note she says "some" of the dash space so it doesn't totally take over. Since the cover appears to just be a perforated panel, I wouldn't be surprised if we can lift it or if they offer a split panel where you can lift just the non-perforated half.

I had a dream.

Some day we are all going to wake up, check Maker, and it will be completely refreshed. When you click on an item it is presented like other online marketplaces. It will show 360 degree views of the item. It will have a spec sheet. It will have the pdf instructions. You know, normal stuff you see while online shopping.
And there will be full details at Slate U
