I basically asked Slate if add-on speakers are as far as they’re going with audio upgrades.

“You’re right that the base configuration includes dashboard-mounted speakers, and currently that’s the standard option in the single cab build. We designed Slate to keep things simple and flexible, and for many, the dash setup works great for basic audio needs.

That said, you’re absolutely not alone in wanting a more immersive sound experience! We’re actively exploring additional options, including door speaker mounts and a potential subwoofer upgrade, especially as more customers look to personalize their builds. Some of these upgrades may become available as aftermarket kits or part of our growing accessory lineup, especially in SUV configurations.

We’ll be sharing updates as audio options expand, and your feedback is exactly what helps us prioritize what comes next.”

Told ya! There will be other builds as well. Extended is just another module, double?
Putting speakers standard on pickup but not SUV doesn't make much sense to me
Dash mount is standard. For SUV, I’m sure they are looking at rear speaker mounts either in the bed (behind the second row of seats) or on the roll bar.

Good news about Slate looking at the doors for optional speakers. Crutchfield is drooling…

SUV or pickup, speakers are standard in the dash. If you add the suv kit, they have “expansion speakers” to add for the back seats.

The optional controls for the speakers are above the AC controls.

That looks like a terrible Photoshop job.
It is kind of ugly. Are those supposed to be the accessory switches also?

Is the expansion speakers graphic in #7 from the "Maker" options? (And I don't see any speakers?) I suppose I should try to look through those, my tendency has been to not click on stuff I don't have much interest in. Plus my computer seems to have issues with that park of Slate's website.

I hadn't heard that speakers were now standard equipment. Probably a good move.

There's some fuzzy interpretation of "standard" here. I think the rep was saying the dash mounted speakers were the standard accessory option, not that they would be included with a "blank" Slate. Including speakers would be an explicit contradiction of the official public announcements.

It’s pretty clear that Katelyn at Slate states that the base configuration will include speakers.

We'll see I guess. I'm sure things are very much in flux behind the scenes still. I'm honestly surprised how much the Slate agents are willing to share in one-on-one emails. Typically most companies would simply respond to every inquiry with some form of "we're not ready to announce anything new at this time."
