I think the CEO did say double din compatibility was being worked in but there are still a lot of questions.

1. Will 6.5 inch speakers fit in the dash? Will 6.5 inch speakers fit in the doors? (four speaker locations would be ideal and better than just hanging a bluetooth speaker under the dash)
2. Will speaker wires be ran into the doors? Or will we have to run them?
3. How will an external antenna be mounted for FM?
4. Would it be easy to make the double din radio take over the back-up camera feed?
5. Is the Slate back-up camera going to a built in screen or will you need to use the screen of your attached smartphone?

The dash speakers look like 4'' units, but there are removable panels in the bottoms of the doors. Slate had mentioned a 'high level audio' package during one of their more informal interviews, so we're still waiting to see what that means. I am on team 'double din radio and door speakers.'

I remember the days of trying to fit 6X9 boxes behind the seats of a regular cab s-10 they didn't fit if I recall (because I needed the seat almost all the way back). But 4 speakers is a must pretty much. Even if it's 4" up front and 6.5" in the doors.

My question is where is the double din head unit going to go? My best guess is here. I'm hoping someone at one of the events will ask to see what's behind it.

Reference?

The only reference I've see to DIN was in the recent video where she said "the design of the central storage area fits for a single DIN".

Barman said "double din" in this interview. But this was back in May and we're still in the pre-production phase so who knows what's changing, and what's just an occasional misspeak.
