I had to look up the video of his from 11 months ago.
Don’t think he’ll be impartial on the Slate.
In his mind, it’s already a failure.
And he already thinks Slate is “late” giving him a prototype to “preview”. Let him stew until a production ready unit is available to review.

It would be an interesting bet. Who will be around longer? Demuro or Slate. Most would bet on Demuro.
I think worst case scenario, someone buys Slate. They are cheap in everything, start up, manufacturing, employment, real estate, etc.

People keep comparing Slate to other start-ups and they are so vastly different I don’t think people take into account what they are doing compared to all the other brands that fail. I think Scout has even more if a chance of failure then Slate at this point and they are backed by VW

Agree about Scout. I think Scout was a reaction to the Bronco craze, which has now subsided and I predict Ford will not offer a 7G Bronco (I own a 6G Bronco). IIRC, VW has already slated the Scout plant to build a US-built Audi.

This has already been heavily discussed on reddit, so I'll just leave this here:

Doug Demuro knows fuck all about cars. He got famous for crashing one at a track and getting dropped from Jalopknik. His review of the slate isn't going to be about it's "quirks or features", he's going to rail on it for not having 4 doors.

His opinion means less to most of us than a dog complaining you're not throwing the ball fast enough. Nothing he says, does, or barks about is going to be of any use.

I hope he's last in line to get one. He can go suck the tailpipe of someone who cares.
Almost half of the video is him deriding the Mega Track, which had a production run of 5 or 6.
So he just kept whining about it despite never having seen, let alone driven one, but he decided in his infinite wisdom that it was junk.
But that was enough for the sheep who follow and believe his every word.

that he is currently loosing because of his corporatization
How is Doug Demuro losing youtube subscribers or losing in general? Say what you will of him and his car review style, but what @ScooterAsheville is saying is correct. Doug built up his business and cultivated a following over the course of a decade after he left Jalopniik, which was already on the decline back in 2014~. Socialblade shows that his youtube subscriber count continues a steady growth.

He also has his successful car auction site, Cars and Bids, that rivals Bring a Trailer. Sure he sometimes superficially glosses over things in his car reviews, but he made himself a brand with his "quirks and features" shtick that has clearly resonates with a large number of people.

That said some criticisms of him are valid and expected when you become such a large public figure. He does come off as flippant and shows a little bit of ego in his podcast segments, which can be grating.

A very interesting video well i guess not to interesting but maybe worrying potentially
Literally didnt say anything except they rescheduled his date where he could review it.

They still might not make it, but I dont see pushing the review date as troubling.

Ford is making money hand over fist with the Bronco. They sold 146k Broncos in 2025 which is up from 116k in 2024. That's very close to the Wrangler which continues to be a money maker for Stellantis. I bet the rumors are true that they use the T6 platform to build a Lincoln G-wagon/Defender competitor. This could be one of the smartest moves Lincoln has done in decades since the semi-cool LS over 25 years ago.

The data from GoodCarBadCar (the source I use) shows different numbers. Not sure about hand over fist.

2022 was production limited as Ford was filling delayed 2-door orders (like mine). 2023 was catching up to all reservation sales once COVID-era supply chain shortages subsided. 2024 shows a drop from 2023 and 2025 shows less unit sales than 2024. Look at dealership lots now and they have good stock of Bronco, but dealers are offering discounts vs. ADM just a few years ago. Review of data on Auto Trader shows substantial 2025 leftovers (13,728 nationwide) clear into April 2026.

Loved the LS, yet trying to find a manual to test drive was infuriating.

2025 numbers according to Ford

I still think the Bronco is a serious money maker. It outsells the Ranger almost 3:1 in the US, and there are a lot of high margin trims. People seem to love their SUVs here. Similarly, the R1S smokes the R1T in sales, and I'm guessing Slate only offered the SUV kit to crane the necks of people who wouldn't otherwise look at a pickup. I don't put much stock in comparing ADM on a new model right out of COVID. Any car price was bonkers money back then. Today's inventory is probably from the higher price of the 2025s compared to 2024, 2026 model improvements, slightly higher interest rates, and a little less "new Bronco buzz." I'm sure the Ford dealers are also loving the jacked up gas prices even more than the rest of us. (93 octane was $5.12/gal last week, and I know that's not as bad as it gets. It cost me $50 to fill my Miata!)
