Here's a link to the first camper prototype I asked for feedback on-> https://www.slateforums.com/forum/threads/feedback-on-a-prototype-camper-for-the-slate.14189/

I got some great feedback for the rear slide out version and would love some further feedback on a simpler version which expands beyond the bed rails to allow east/west sleeping (no rear slide). This would be ideal for 2 people since it can only fit a full mattress. The weight is in a similar range to the first prototype, but the wide sides will have an impact on aerodynamics. I will try to do some wind tunnel simulations to better understand the impact this would have on range. I did a YouTube video with more details if you are intersted->

How would the side view mirrors work?
Good question.....The camper would block some of the view with the rear view mirrors. There is another all aluminum camper that has extended sides like this by Radica called the moonlander. They are putting a small angle on the wall from the bed rails but it's still not perfect. Some people opt for upgrading to tow mirrors. I left my walls 90 degrees to make this shell really easy to remove with 2 truck camper jacks when not using the Slate for camping.

Being wide is terrible for aerodynamics. If possibly it should be a slider.
This would certainly affect aerodynamics but by how much? There is an all aluminum camper that goes wide beyond the bedrails by Radica named the Moonlander. Reviews are mixed on how much it affects fuel economy. I'll try to do some wind simulations on the design when I have time.
