I was interested to see what ford is cooking up until I seen model year 2028 which means late Q3, Q4 2027

hoping my Slate will be a year old by then

also ford trying to say priced about $25k 2.5 years from now is laughable

heck, I’m hoping and praying the Slate will be able to stay $25k ish

but I’m interested to see if ford is listening to the rumbling or if they will try to package this up to be a $40k vehicle

I didn't see the $25k piece, where was that? Heck, they can't even sell the Maverick for $25k, I'd be really surprised if they can get the T3 that low.

One article I seen said $25k but others stated “low cost” also stated “bigger than maverick smaller than ranger”

I can not find mention of $25k again so very doubtful

Could be earlier.

For example, regular production of the 1984 Corvette (first year of the C4 generation) began on January 3, 1983.

My question is why make one in the middle of the 2 smaller sized trucks it doesn’t seem like a good marketing decision. And if it’s bigger then the mavrick but smaller then the ranger the price would be around for the base ranger non 4x4 33,350 before you build it out and the mavrick is 28,145 also before you build it out giving you a 5,205 price difference if we go by price equals size alone. So I don’t really see this selling well vs the others even if it’s all electric. The base lighting is 54,780 which is definitely a lot more but they should make an electric ranger if going for function. If going for the a to b then a full electric mavric would be a better option. Personally I just don’t see this as something that should be new when they already have a low cost platform that they could just modify to be all electric because it would be cheaper since a lot of the components would be the same. Thank you that’s my Ted talk XD

If whatever Ford makes gets any traction at all, the dealers are going to futz up the prices just like they did with the Mav.
And the salesmen will probably try to persuade buyers away from whatever T3 is and towards something they don't actually want. That's really common at the dealerships we visited when looking for an EV. Most tried to "upsell" us on ICE or PHEVs. It's harder to get cars in for service at a dealership if they typically don't require regular maintenance.

Imagine if Ford tried this again: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Ranger_EV

It's the only thing I can think of that would give Slate a run for it's money.
that would be great lol and make since now I know ford is saying it’s a model t moment what if they brought back the model t in a modern look but also the model t did come out in 1908 being a 120 years when this new truck ford is making will come out in 2028

I'll be putting a deposit down - zero risk - and I love my Maverick. Still swooning over the Slate, but prefer not to have all my eggs in one basket.

Yup. The next gen Chevy Bolt starts production later this year to go on sale in early 2026 as a 2027 model.
It's a bummer (to me) that Chevy has decided to axe Android Auto and Apple Carplay in its new cars. The original Bolt is a crazy deal right now. There's a bunch near me for ~$10K-14K with brand new batteries from the recall, and get about 250 miles of range. I convinced a coworker to get one for his commute. If the Slate doesn't pan out, or VW doesn't bring the ID.2/ID.GTI to the US, I may just pick one up for my commute. I don't care about DCFC speeds for my use case.

2 2024 Mavericks.
I thought this mornings article said 27 MY. I'll trade in my Maverick to get one. Have 3 Mavericks at this time will probably keep the XLT and get an electric. Just a comfy golf cart like my XL is on the farm.

Too bad it is not this year, since the Model T pickup didn't arrive until 1925.

This. Obviously Tesla is a trigger word for some people thanks to Elon, but this is something they did right, and I'm so glad Slate plans on doing direct to consumer sales as well. I loathe car dealerships and hope to never have to work with one again. Clearly there are exceptions, but I've rarely felt good about the experience when I've left a dealership. The sales tactics, extra fees and packages that feel obligatory always make me feel like I've been tricked. Also, knowing that the service and parts department is often the largest revenue stream for most of the legacy automaker's dealerships tells you something about how they build their vehicles. They're built to fail and be a constant revenue stream. Slate's accessories are designed to be a continued revenue stream as well, but I'd much rather be purhcasing accessories I can install myself then being at the mercy of a dealer's service center and whatever they think they can get me to pay to fix.

I'm still curious to see what Ford comes out with and I've not written them off completely. I may also consider a used F-150 Lightning if the price is similar enough to the Slate when it hits production. At the very least, I hope Ford's new vehicle will put pressure on Slate to get their price down even lower than mid-twenties, though the only number I've seen in articles is that the Ford will be under $30k, I've not seen $25k anywhere. But, if that's for a 200+ mile range small truck with 4 doors, that will really be a challenge to Slate I would say.
