Hi,

I joined to learn more about what might become my 2nd EV and converse with other aspiring Slate owners.

I currently own a 2023 M3P.

Other vehicles currently owned in chronological order (all purchased new; all but Tesla special orders).

1978 Trans Am WS6 (or "Ma Snart" according to my Tesla dash cam when parked next to it)
1997 Pontiac Formula (now a long retired track car; have no idea why I still have it)
2016 Ford Mustang GT PP

Welcome! I see you also note having a GMC Syclone, that's such an amazing truck! do you still have it? Wonder if some motorheads(ev though) will try crank up the power on the Slate to get that 0-60 down to Syclone times.

I included the Sycone in the list of vehicles at first then edited it out because its in the process of being sold. Missed that one reference about it not being special order. Fixed that later.

It was fun but not at all practical. The inside of the tailgate has a sticker warning that cargo load can not exceed 500 lbs. That includes: driver, passenger, gas in the tank, whatever is in the console, glove box, behind the seats. I had a 300+ lb acquaintance, I couldn't even take to lunch without violating the warranty.

Still cool though! My dad had a 1989 S10 with the regular 4.3, 2WD, that thing would light up the tires fairly easy without trying.

Why such a low weight limit ?

It wasn't really a truck. It just looked like one. A halo vehicle for GMC. Basically take a Buick GNX ("fastest" US car in 1987) drive train, use an even larger 4.3 engine and stick a Sonoma body on it.
