You missed the part where I said that my Slate will be my commuter, and *not* my long-haul driver. Any range that I lose with driving faster will wash out in the charge cycle when I plug it in to the free charger at work. ;)
I switched jobs not long after I got my Spark. It was a similar commute, but I went from having to drive carefully to make the round trip, to being able to charge at work and drive as fast as I wanted both directions, haha.

But you also said, “But on a long trip, on the interstate, +10mph over 3 hours can save you a half hour of drive time.”
That was the part I was referring to.

I won't be driving fast in my slate; it's my "tooling around town running errands relaxed joy ride" vehicle. The quickest I will go will be 70 so I can match traffic on the few highways around me, 15 minutes max before I can slow it back down. I live a pretty chill lifestyle and never need to get anywhere fast anymore; the "zip" I will get between 0 and 40 will be much more fun for me than going 90 miles an hour in traffic. Most of my longer road trips are planned around interstates, avoiding them on purpose; there are some amazing back roads out there.

But if I am not using the Slate for those trips, your reply doesn't mean anything. You took that snippet above out of context by ignoring the fact I am not going to use my Slate as a long-haul vehicle, as I clearly stated in my post. I understand that you wish those two statements to be independent. They are not, and were not meant to be.

Did you notice I never mentioned the Slate in that reply to your statement, but EVs in the general sense? It was just a general statement about EV driving as yours was a general statement about driving 10+ over the speed limit.

I can all but guarantee I'll never sniff 90 mph. I'm very much a "set the cruise at the speed limit in the rightmost lane and chill" kinda person. Worst. Anarchist. Ever.

Edit: I should add, in Ohio, the speed limits max out at like 70 if I remember correctly.

Smaller.

For example, telling the computer your tire has 1% less circumference than the physical tire has causes the car to go 1% farther (faster) than indicated.

Some AI Slop:

Having bigger tires than your car's computer is set for can lead to inaccurate speedometer readings, which may show a lower speed than you're actually traveling

So when your speedo says 90 you'll being going faster than 90 if you set a smaller-than-actual tire size in the app.
Sorry, I thought you were talking about the actual tire size on the vehicle, not the one in the app.

OK, double down on dumb - no problem. You quoted my post, so I assume you're talking to me. I never said anything about any other EVs. So what on Earth makes you think I give two craps about them? I was speaking about my use - you bringing up some outside, irrelevant use case means what? Maybe you meant to just address other people to make some know-it-all remark, I have no idea.

But here's the problem: EVERYONE here already knows the trade-off between range and speed. So why are you bringing it up in a reply to *my* post where it clearly isn't relevant? You screwed up by not reading my whole post, or you screwed up by not understanding what was clearly written.

Just own it and move on.

Sorry if I offended you. Just trying to add additional information. You are wrong, not everyone on here is EV savvy, to many this will be their first EV experience.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with cuing up the Ramones, Sex Pistols, Black Flag, Iggy and the Stooges, the Dead Kennedys, The Clash, or even Green Day, Social Distortion, or Blink-182 on Spotify, and then cranking your BT speaker while calmly driving in the right lane to your destination.

I'm not offended. I'm just correcting you when you are wrong. You have been wrong twice before, and now again in your reply. Yes, everyone here in this thread knows the range/speed trade-off, because it has been mentioned here multiple times. You seem keen on being right rather than getting it right. It's a bad look, and you should just stop.

There will be plenty of Propagandhi, Bad Religion, various Fat Wreck acts and 90's hip hop to drown out the people yelling out their passenger windows as they fly by to my left...

I remember opening the window and having my ears pop while riding with a buddy in his Nissan 300zx-turbo back in the mid-80's (I think I remember him saying we were going just about 140mph).

I'm almost 60. I don't need to go that fast.
