Who here can identify the levers found on the driver’s seat at about 6:30 in the video?

They appear to be for seat back angle and perhaps seat bottom raise & lowering.

I know seat adjustments are a concern for some forum members.

Reminds me sooo much of my first Ford Ranger. A two door cheap-as-all-get-out XLT with cloth seats, manual shift, gutless 4 cylinder, RWD - and yes, window cranks. I put 100,000 miles on that basic truck, commuting CT to MA for years, yard work, etc.

That would be cool if the forward lever is one of those crank levers for seat cushion up or down. I assume it has a metal bar in front of the cushion for fore/aft. With video saying it was designed for 5'5" to 6' something I was concerned that my 5' wife wouldn't be able to operate. Perhaps there is hope yet.

My 5’ wife has shrunk a bit, likely a bolster of some sort, but the reality is she has been driving less and less so not a big deal as long as she can get us home from Happy Hour.

id assume its the same as my friends kia soul where the top one is fir loving the top back and forth and the bottom one for seat angle but cant confirm since i cant see the front to see if there is a bar for moving the seat back and forth

It's probably a good guess that that is what the levers are, the back one being tilt and the front lift seems to be common. Can't count on details like that being the same in production though, these are off the shelf pre-production seats sourced probably over a year ago, and they were specifically hiring a seat designer.

I recall sitting in the demo Slate they brought to Cleveland last summer, and I thought those seats were quite comfortable.

I wonder what kind of changes they might make, or if those seats are used in some other vehicles?

The seat should only have 3-5 controls. A seat release that allows access to rear cab, position lever under the seat, a seat back tilt lever, seat height/angle lever, and possibly a lumbar knob. these last two are probably unnecessary, given the minimalist design of the Slate.

The guy I talked to at the event made it very clear these seats aren't even close to what will actually be in the final car. So don't get too attached.

In my WRX, I have two like that. One raises and lowers the lumbar support and the other is to tilt the back.

IMHO, seats are one of the main reasons you do a test drive. I've seen so many seat wars online it's mind blowing. Ten people test the same seat, and you would swear the seats were made on different planets.

• This seat doesn't fit me
• This seat fits me perfectly
• This seat hurts my butt
• This seat is too narrow

• This seat needs more bolstering
• This seat has no thigh support

You gotta sit in the seat before you buy. Trust but verify.

Just like my aviation flight lessons, I have to use a seat booster because the plane's seats do not go up and down. Without the cushion, I can not see above the instrument cluster for VFR flight.

If Slate seats do not go up/down then I will have to use the same aviation cushion from my flight bag.

You are so right. I need a Benz quality orthopedic bench seat…Barring that, various bolstering and cushioning might help!
