If they are planning to have the machinery in by the end of the year, and be building safety and EPA validation units next month, maybe in just a few months they will be producing test drive units to take to events.

It was something like 10 years ago, I recall attending a free event with my friends hosted by Lexus where you can drive a few different models including the new (at the time) IS350. I believe it was setup in a parking lot at the Aqueduct racetrack. There was a curvy test track with pylons, and virtually no speed limits, and you could drive solo around curves as fast as you wish. (There was some kind of legal document we all signed for liability). They even offered free refreshments in a large outdoor tent. I still cannot forget the smiles permanently planted on all our faces.

Slate should consider something like this at parking lot venues; especially baseball stadiums around the country. I attended a similar event with BMW at Citifield several years ago. For Slate, the event could be open to all, but we know only reservation holders get a test drive. By the end of the day, I suspect most all attendees will sign up for a reservation on site, just so they earn the opportunity for a test drive.

You just reminded me, back in 2012 or so I stumbled on something like this when I lived in Iowa that was ran by Ford. It was something called "Drive 4 Ur Community" and it had a whole fleet of Fords you could test drive. I guess the benefit was that for every test drive they'd donate X amount to a local organization. Was a great way to get people to get the word out about the cars, as a few people I know went for the food and solely for the charity portion of it. The only downside was it was on regular roads, so there was no way to really open up those CMAXs and EcoSports LOL
