Checkout the latest from CATL.

It may be too late for Slate to meet their delivery dates, but I’ld bet they make to the US Market early next year. In time for the second Gen Slate.

I think the Slate CEO made it pretty clear. They are going to buy the cheapest possible battery that is made in the USA and meets the minimum performance standard. I'm guessing (I don't know) that if Slate has test units rolling off the line late this summer - that battery contract has already been signed.

We have some folks on the forum who used to work in automotive. Maybe they can tell us what the typical lead time is for suppliers when a new vehicle production line is coming online.

To oversimplify these lead times.....

I really like sodium-ion, but for the US market, we lost Natron last September. I don't know when/if our battery industry is going to invest in the tech enough that it would be an option for Slate.

Sodium Ion is looking positive, but we still have a ways to go before we have mass production of batteries with reasonable energy densities. I'm looking at 2029 for realistic deliveries of sodium ion for stationary applications, and even then at 50-80% of the energy density of NMC.

I’m sure you’re right. By know they would surely have locked down parts and battery suppliers for at least the first years worth of trucks.

Now the second Generation might be able to take advantage of a less expensive chemistry.

Only time will tell. But a Maher change is coming to the battery industry and they are going to be cheaper and more energy dense within a year or two.

Now that the tax credits are no longer available is Slate still committed to sourcing from the US?
Considering Slate's origins as a US-based manufacturing investment by Re:Build, and the current uncertainty with international trade and tariffs, I think that commitment is safe for the near future.
