Some imaginary person wouldn't want one? Who cares? Here is why I actually do.

The Slate truck is exactly what I want and here are some reasons why.
I have a lot of solar panels so will be able to charge for free.
I live on an Island (Oahu), so the range limit is not a factor, at all.
I need a truck to do occasional hauling because I live in a rural area that most businesses won't deliver too (odd given the island is small, but to islanders I live in "way out" in the boonies). Bulk trash pickup is also needed.

Now, I currently own a Ford Raptor, and it has very low miles for its age (10 years). However, because I live oceanfront it is rusting from the salt air, there is a 5 inch hole near the sunroof that the body shop won't fix for "reasons". So I just patched it with a boat patch kit. Worse though is a computer chip went out in the steering column and the intermittent wipers dont work; which in turn given the ridiculous complexity of modern vehicles makes it so the water squirter won't engage because a chip governs it that refuses squirt if the intermittent doesnt work. But, the squirter is required to pass the road safety standards! I took it to Ford themselves, and they cannot fix it: that part does not exist! The dealer cheat-passed the safety and said to go try to try to find the part on Ebay! The dealer!
So my $90,000 truck (10 years ago) is no longer legally roadworthy and the manufacturer cannot fix it!

So, you worry the battery on the Slate truck will go out it 10 years? At a third the price of the Raptor, it's still a better bet.

Also, the Raptor is about 7 inches wider than a typical Ford F150, and spaces are tigher on the Island than the mainland, so its tough to park and gets wedged in starbucks and the dump ramp ( quite a nighmare actually). Also, at 7" it won't fit into 90% of the parking garages in town. So, my wife refuses to drive it and wants me to get a smaller truck she can handle.

Ok, but theres more. People say "get a Maverick". I found a barebones one from a failed fleet sale. You know, the cheapest no frills model ----except, when it got to Oahu the dealership added a "coating" and some fake upgrades which increased the "base" price many thousands of dollars.
Then, to add insult to injury, they wanted 10,000 markup over the "fake" factory cost. So, they wanted $40k for the base Maverick model.
No. Way.
Order one from Ford? A friend did that. 1 year later a truck was delivered that didn't have the features she needed (including a ramp); had fake dealer upgrades, and they said take it or leave it. Yeah, if you order from Ford the truck you get on the island is not the one you ordered.

Continuing...

My ford has a central console with a "touch screen" and "voice activation" that basically never worked. It is literally run by an operating system that Microsoft cancelled in 1996. Useless piece of junk even when it was brand new. The truck came with a Sirius radio system option but Sirius radio does not work in Hawaii. The actual radio? Doesn't work on my side of the island no signal. So, another useless piece of tech I had to pay for. Also, it has a mapping program which the Oahu maps were all messed up for 10 years so Its useless, even though of course on an Island you can usually find your way around anyway. So I actually have always used my Phone for all that already.

There's more, but the truth is I hate every single electronic crap and special piece of plastic it came with; like a hood decal that is all ripped up; or the bed extender that has never been useful in 10 years, or a bank of fancy switches on the console that do nothing.

Man, I yearn for a truck with NONE OF THAT JUNK. I don't want to pay for it, I don't want to be taxed on its cost, I don't want the dealer markups and I'm tired of not getting my money's worth.

The Slate, since it doesn't have any of that junk can never fail in this regard.
The only luxury I really need is air conditioning given the tropical weather, and that is standard on the Slate.

Amen friend! Preaching to the choir. Wishing Slate and you the best in getting one made and to Oahu.

@Slate this person needs a bump in line. Needs it more than I do.

“Just buy a maverick”. &$€£ that.
