Tailgate Embossed "SLATE" Branding - Poll

I was noticing all the newer trucks I passed this evening, they all had deep recessed embossing on the tailgates, at least the Slate is sightly raised and not deeply recessed which I think looks much worse and would definitely be harder to wrap than the Slate’s tailgate.

Recessed embossing is called debossing.

If they debossed the branding it would have provided more Owner Choice by being capable of being filled and wrapped.

I can agree with you there. Tailgate and on the grill area is sufficient enough.

A after market spare tire cover would eliminate that though. And can be custom made with your own branding or image.

For the small price of a center console I’d let them put a rear window sticker at the top of the glass that read SLATE.AUTO As far as the tailgate I’m ok with lettering

If you are wrapping I bet you could sand down the Slate embossing easier than filling and sanding debossed lettering.

I'm okay with it but ONLY if they offer a blank tailgate for an extra $600 because that's how much I hate the embossing.

I can’t go so far as to say that I HATE the embossing but I will not be wrapping my Slate and the idea that the word SLATE is there on my truck’s tailgate in bold black letters is not at all my style. I have put in another post that the embossed raised lettering is pure corporate marketing and adds nothing to the reliability and performance of the vehicle. If one of the main points of owning the Slate truck is customization, I will be looking to Slate Auto for a solution to this tailgate design conundrum they are creating. The simple solution is for Slate Auto to offer a smooth unlettered tailgate body panel as an accessory that I can install on my Slate truck. I would prefer that Slate Auto offer the accessory because I would be confident of the fit and finish of the panel to match my Blank Slate truck.
At the end of the day, I am a customer buyer owner not a surrogate marketing rep.

I also just realized they don't really have a logo. I guess they use a big S sometimes, but that's not much of a logo.

There was actually a lot of thought in the “s” and word mark. Things like the slope of the s is the same as the slope of the front hood. I’m interested for them to release more details.
