Years ago I was on the Bolt forum. I literally got banned because I dared to say the Bolt was not rated to tow and therefore you probably should not tow, and it was probably not even safe to tow. That really offended somebody, and they reported me, and I was banned for a month.

So don't tell the Bolt crowd they can't tow, or they'll come for you with pitchforks and tar and feathers.
Wow, talk about a sensitive bunch!

Did you go back after the ban?

I think they are going to surprise everyone coming in lower than the midpoint of the 20s but the extended range battery is going to more than we expected. In 2022 I bought a new Leaf and got the small battery pack at 40 kWh. To upgrade to the 62 kWh pack was a $7k add. I don't think the delta will be that high but more than the $3k people are expecting. I am in the @23k-23999 camp for base MSRP. I do think that Slate will shun some of the junk fees that other OEMs are tacking on.
This is where I am at. I think realistically they are building these for roughly 19-20k which is epic. With that, 23-25k is still a great price. They are also still trying to lower the price before launch, they know they lost “7,500” to nothing they can control, they 100% wanted a sub 20k vehicle to the consumer, and will try to get as close to that as possible

You were supposed to split off and make your own "Bolts that don't tow" forum, per old internet rules.

As I understand it, the new Bolt is not rated to tow, so it's no-go for me.
It's also a no go for me because of a single phrase in the advertising.
" Google Assistant is integrated with Google built-in and cannot be deactivated. However, you can disable the "Hey Google" voice prompt by going to Settings, selecting Assistant & Voice, and toggling off the "Hey Google" voice prompt. "

I don't want a car that always connected to the internet, especially when you can't turn it off.

One of the things I love about this forum, truly, is hearing from people with incredibly different wants and needs and feelings about the Slate. Some here are really into simple. Some into small. Some into BEV. Some into cheap. Others into maintaining and customizing it themselves. Or all kinds of combinations of the above.

Really kind of cool to see how very different we all are. Aren't you glad you're not the CEO of Slate trying to make everybody happy?

I'm surprised at how many are voting over $27k... I can only hope they mean barely over $27k.
I agree, I was surprised to see the ranges set where they were! I would have assumed that $27,499 (to be under 20k with the $7500 EV credit) was the baseline, with ranges set evenly either side of that. But the poll lumps in the $39k naysayers with the $27,001 optimists!

Slate has said from the very beginning "mid-20s", so $25k is the baseline. Maybe I should have put in an extra slot for $22k or less and $28k or more.

I went with over $27k, because I'm thinking $27,499. It lines up with the under $20k when there was still a tax credit. It is also still mid-20s if you define mid-20s as $22,501 to $27,499.

The Slate Auto company's core philosophy is extreme simplification to keep costs down, by eliminating almost every "standard" luxury, this does just that!

THE PRICE WILL BE $19,999.99 / with bare bones, more civilized for stripped, at $17,500.00, which is with everything removed that you can replace later.

I think they are doing everything they can to lower the price of the vehicle beyond what made it "under 20k with incentives". I really think low 26, high 25k is where this will be at launch, I also fully believe that with sales and success, they will bring down that price even lower by the end of 2027. You really have to remember they made the vehicle to be under 20k to the consumer, the government did a government and shot them in the foot with no doing of their own, I think Slate will do everything they can to get the vehicle back under 20k after a few more tweaks to the manufacturing process. They are already talking about gen 2 and gen 3 of the slate, I would be surprised if they don't keep and outgoing model around for a discount. Let's say they announce gen 2, I could see the Gen 1 stick around for months to a year at like 15-18k
