I'm contemplating it. I was a first adopter ford maverick owner. Many, many people wanted more info on the truck and even asked to sit in it.
I'd imagine the Slate will have the same interest. We could put a decal on the back to market the rental option.
Renting out the vehicle could offset the cost of future accessories.

It would be a great Turo vehicle. I rented an F-150 thru Turo to pick-up and antique tractor. The F-150 was 4WD and had oversized tires, it was a PITA getting that tractor loaded in to the bed. I would have loved to have been able to rent a blank Slate for that task. I’m thinking that tailgate height is gonna be lower than we’ve seen in a while. I wouldn’t put my Slate on Turo though. I’d be worried the entire time it was out that the renter would be abusing my baby.

I believe you get to choose who rents the vehicle. Meaning you can deny younger drivers, or someone with a face tattoo. There is still risk though.

No, I would never do that. Heard too many horror stories from people about their cars getting damaged. Also you would have to school non EV renters on how to operate and charge the truck.

It would be great from the perspective of a renter. I rented an EV on Turo once because I wanted to see what it was like (it was great). From the perspective of the owner, idunno. Seems like a bad experience would not be a matter of if, but when.

If someone is already an experienced Turo owner with realistic expectations then it sounds like a great idea. Unless maybe the vehicle is constantly being rented and then you never get to drive it!

Before my son bought his Tesla model S he rented one on Turo. Since he was not acvustomed to it he curbed one of the wheels. Ended up having to pay $250 for the damage.

Tesla’s are really bad for curb rash. If you look at a curb you are gonna get curb rash. My wife already has curb rash on her new Y and swears she didn’t do it. I wonder if you can get curb rash on those wheels from a pot hole.

That's why you gotta order TWO of them. Duh!

Shall I add that item to our initial GA Slate Consortium board meeting? Buying a couple of extra Slates for Turo/as-needed uses?

My Equinox EV is the same, 3 of my wheels look like wolverine has gotten ahold of them. I think a lot of so called EV aero wheels may have that issue if they have lower profile tires.

What is unique about them that would explain that?
Where a lot of tires bulge out beyond the rim, on Tesla the widest part of the rim/tire assembly is the rim. On my Model 3, I ended up buying aftermarket aero wheel covers that cover the part of the rim that is exposed when using factory wheel covers. The curb rash under the wheel covers was never repaired though.

Exactly this. I am most careful with my wheels, yet I have curb rash on all 4 rims as they are low profile performance tires. I don't even parallel park. They seem to happen at the ATM drive thru's since they make the lanes ridiculously narrow with high curbs. And you have to get even closer to the machine to reach the screen. Then pulling away they narrow the lanes again and have sharp turns to exit. Same thing at some of those fast-food drives through lanes. Now I park and go inside for cash and the occasional junk food cravings.

Even with Tesla's 7 cameras you don't get a top-down surround view. I bought one of those Dremel polishing tools (cordless) and I've gotten pretty good at polishing out those scrapes. And Amazon sells excellent wheel touch up paint (Scratch's happen) ;) to give you a perfect match.

Having had past Turo experience renting out my Land Rover, yes I would rent the Slate out since I already have 2 other vehicles.

Turo has a great insurance rider on every renter who rents and you can control who gets to rent it out.

With the plastic panels giving you cheap repairs, overall price, and general interest, honestly this isn't a bad idea, a small fleet of mini trucks for people doing errands and such in the city would make a lot of sense
