Window Crank Position?

Has anyone noticed a “standard” position of the window cranks when rolled up? My last crank window vehicle was my 1998 Ranger. And it bothered me that, when the windows were rolled up, the passenger side and driver side had the cranks in different positions. Of course I corrected this and I think I ended up with the driver’s door at the 3 o’clock position and the passenger at the 9 o’clock position because it kept the crank from touching the knees.

I know I’ll be able to do the same with the Slate but also wonder is Slate will send them out of the factory with the cranks in haphazard positions or in a dedicated position.

I'm not so bothered by them being in different positions, but if my leg or knee hits it, it's an issue.

I personally haven't noticed anything with the crank positions. I just hope they are out of the way. My Falcon has the cranks right where I want to place my knee and it's not the most comfortable thing in the world.

I had the same issue with the Ranger, but at least in that you could just unscrew them and clock them how you wanted.

The comments about the crank not hitting the knee are on point. For your own safety, get them clocked so that in the closed position your knee doesn't hit the crank. In an accident that can do a lot of damage. It shouldn't be too difficult to R&R them in the right position.

As one person on the spectrum to another this would also bother me greatly. Symmetry is key.

P.S. I saw in a video that it takes 6 full rotations to roll up the window. Not too bad.

It should be pretty easy to re-clock it.

Take it off, clock it to where you want, and snap it back on.

I've found them frustrating to remove. If the method in this video works, it'll be easy peasy.

Looking at the recent event photos that kevin took looks like the design validation vehicle is pretty close but whether or not the same detail will be paid attention to in production is another question....​

From the pictures of interior accessories, it appears the passenger will be 9 o’clock and the driver 3 o’clock. IOW, forward toward the dash.

Personally I will want to optimize them for the open position because I always keep my windows down while driving. I’m guessing if Slate does optimize it from the factory, it will be for the closed position. So I’ll have to change mine if it doesn’t line up. Interesting, hadn’t thought of that.

Do we know if the windows roll in a whole number of crank turns? That is, will the closed position be the same as the open position?

I prefer mine to have a slightly leftward lean at 11 o’clock… oh wait, we’re talking about window cranks?
