Apparently slate hasn’t decided the battery type as of now or has changed there mind on the type

Glad to hear other chemistries may be an option... Hopefully LFP ends up making it into production. I don't really know all the rules with the tax credit or if it'll even be a consideration when production starts, but being able to regularly charge to 100% as well as having the thermal stability and longevity, on top of not depending on controversial cobalt would be great.

UPDATE: gah, responded before seeing your update... bummer on the NMC

i know I had just got the email right after I closed my email but I read some of the article and it seems LFP isn’t widely available enough in the USA right now and most of it comes from china and seeing as how as of right now there going with the ev incentives right now I see what they would go that so they can get the incentives it seems

Yeah, this was the first thing I asked about in late April, just a day or so after the live reveal. I also would have preferred LFP, but a well-designed and carefully-manufactured NMC cell ain't bad.

The supply chain for things like batteries was going to have to be cemented in place fairly early on and Slate was just getting started in stealth mode in 2023. They had to put a bid in for large quantities of batteries then, before LFP manufacturing was really established here. The winner was SK On and as far as I know, these cells will be manufactured at SK On's facility in Commerce, Georgia . . .

Ford has invested a lot of money into this facility and the joint venture is called BlueOvalSK . . .

I started a thread here recently with technical info specific to the cells . . .

Will be no rebate from the government on lithium battery equipped vehicle. More of a fire hazard also.

Things do seem to be up in the air a little still on that. I think that’s the likely scenario that they end up going away completely with this administration, but from my understanding there’s currently a provision in there still for manufacturers who have sold less than 200k vehicles that qualify, so Slate may slide in on that for their first 200k sales. Well just have to wait and see though 🤷🏻‍♂️
