Q2 delivery estimate for last minute reservations & new orders.

I did not register until May this year, and the slot that eventually came was Q2. Zip 31328.
Makes no sense that people who signed up for $25 before me would get a Q3 or Q4 delivery slot

I'd speculate on that, but the last week I spent doing so was all hot air.

So, who knows?

I put down my $50 in June, just got an email offering Q2 delivery if I “preorder now”. Going to have to make the call fast. That’s when my current lease expires.

No peer pressure or anything, but we'll think you're pretty lame if you "chicken out".
I mean, everyone in the cafeteria is already starting to snicker.

Like this because I hate doing Inspections in the Winter. My current car is done in February !

I have confirmed that even folks who reserved a few days prior to close of reservation period are getting a projected Apr - Jun 2027 delivery date. I'm confident this means even if you had no reservation , you could pre order it now, with Q2 delivery.

What does this mean?

Personally, I think this means that the number of non-refundable preorders is... modest. We have no idea what the reality of production and supply chain will look like, but I'm hard pressed to imagine Slate trying to deliver more than 5,000 units per month, initially. Yes, I am merely pulling that number out of my tailpipe.

On a more positive note, this suggests to me that folks with early reservations are likely to have the opportunity to significantly move up in timeline.

Well, well....after reading this thread - I went to check my email - no update. Last Friday (I pre-ordered late Thursday JUNE 25, reserved April 11) I received the DELIVERY DATE for Q3: JULY-SEPT 2027.....but just now - I went to my account - and now have a Q2 delivery window: Apr - Jun 2027. Yippee!! you are definitely onto something

In Arizona so that might be part of it. It also raises questions on how many reservations actually turned into pre orders or did their supplier, and possible their delivery plan ,pulled through for them and plan on a massive early production?

We will probably never know. Oh well. Lol. I am looking forward to my little truck.

we won't know, but I've been convinced since the 25k price rumors that too much has been made of both the reservations of the last year AND the conversion numbers after the price reveal, that the volume is somewhat less then the company had hoped and optimistically projected for.

Nothing can ever convince me that geography has any meaningful role, beyond basic logistics. You can't put 5,000 Slates in a LA distribution center and 0 in Reno, just because "California is more important" (or any such twisting of logic).

In a way, this is a product playing on an egalitarian theme. Slate needs to get this thing out far and wide. Their best marketing friend, long term, will be when I'm in the Home Depot parking lot stacking lumber in the back, not because a bunch of "content creators" got early shipments.

I really look forward to my low bed height, low ranged, under styled, high sidewall, shitty little grey plastic pickup that I know everyone will be asking me about.

On this theme of tripping. The first time I saw a Rivian in my rear view mirror, I almost drove off the road. Someone in my area got a really early one. Went home, looked it up, and my teeth fell out at the price. That's a no for me. But it sure got my attention!

Yes, the General Public is not that versed in EV's and this simply does not look like the typical one !
