I just emailed this to Slate:

Spare tire (mini-spare) in the footwell area at the font of the bed?

I hate the idea of driving without a spare. I also hate the idea of hanging a spare off the rear of any vehicle (begging for major repairs even in a minor rear-ender).

Ideally I'd like to see Slate offer a spare (or space-saver) that fits directly behind the cab using the foot well area that's reserved for the SUV but with a cover that allows the spare to store vertically with a little hump visible through the rear window?

No room under the bed due to the rear suspension gets in the way

This was a factory solution to spare wheel problem on FSO Syrena Bosto. I believe a wheel mount fitting the roof rack will be quite a popular accessory

How about a spare tire mount on the side of the bed similar to that of vintage cars from the interwar years? It would jut out so I'm not sure a side mount would be legal though.

I would even be cool with one in the bed if it came with a nice hard-plastic cover:

I'll be fine with anything but the LandRover-style hood mount!

Useless if you rip your sidewall. Spare tire should be mandatory.
We live in the age of Cheap. I can't think of any new vehicles that come with a full size spares. Your lucky to get a donut tire and some have even started charging extra for that luxury. Since Slate is cutting everything but the very basics to keep costs down I would be very surprised if this came with a donut. I'm expecting I'll have to order an inflator kit from Amazon and keep it in the frunk, otherwise I'll just wait for roadside assistance to show up.

One potential surprise may be in the frunk on the left hand side. If you look at it in the videos you'll see what looks like a cover for something. Probably not a spare but something is under that cover

Could be battery terminals for powering things like an air compressor or jump starting another car.

That's what I am thinking, probably adapters for NACS to whatever the older standard was, or the 120V cable for plugging in normal outlets.

Mavericks have a full sized spare. I purchasedmfull size spare for our bolts and sure enough one day ripped a tire so the self sealing stock tires didn’t help
