OK, so this is actually one of my worries. I can easily transport stuff like this pvc conduit or quarter-round molding in my Subaru sedan or Odyssey van. Ironically, I'm worried about doing the same in the truck! Strap it down, let it hang over, and flag it?

That’s my plan, Boss. In my case, might be easier if I’m running open air with rear seats down as I could push some items to or above console….no, not 4x8’s…but similar items.

Heck, I have to do stuff like that in my Dodge 2500. Conduit can either go through the back window up to the dash or around the outside of the cab and rest on the passenger side flag mirror. If the load is too big to do either of those things then you just have to strap it down really well and flag it!

I've been waiting for this answer! And the Slate doesn't have an openable back window. That's a real bummer.

That’s the only possible advantage to open air. Easy to manipulate. I love the passenger side strap on idea! I never thought of that.

At the next event, we'll have to ask people to lean down on the passenger side mirror and see how much pressure it can take.

Roof racks. True, true, true. As an old guy, I hate them because of the overhead reach. I'd probably also have to get the foot side-step option. And then there's the range hit.

I'm winding down and probably won't have to get big stuff too often. And maybe they'll have a back window that opens...

Yep. If you do that kind of hauling on the regular you either do this or tow a trailer (which is what I do if I'm picking up a load of framing lumber).
