Not sure if I'll keep on waiting considering how little the factory has progressed.
The one thing absent in their official photos is lots of people working or any trucks actually being built, although I don't know how old the photo is, but you would think it would be updated to see any progress; or trucks in production.

Not comforting, especially when the new Chevy Bolt is going to be released at an MSRP of $29,000 with all the bells and whistles as standard, and so far the estimated price for the bare bones Slate is about $27,000.
Don't get me wrong, I support Slate, but I want a new EV, not a constant "Production will start soon but we can't tell you exactly when you can buy one or what the truck will cost"
The competition is beginning to catch up, and it's tempting, especially if Nissan brings their $17,000 N7 to the US.

C'mon Slate there are customers waiting, cash in hand, and they will only wait for so long.

No, Bolt won't have all the bells and whistles standard, I've already seen an article about it where supercruise was brought up as a high priced additional feature. Not that Slate has anything like supercruise, but most Bolt units available will probably be at a trim level including it, and so well above that $29,000.
I wouldn't even expect Nissan to bring the N7 to the US.

Not to be harsh, but if a transportation appliance from your General Motors dealer for only $2,000 more seems tempting maybe the State isn't for you.

To some the Slate isn't "missing features" per-se. The missing features are a feature! It comes with BYO infotainment and no telematics / telemetrics, for example.

One of the interesting qualties of this vehicle is how it appeals to a lot of differnt people for a lot of different reasons.

Some people will want a small pickup in general and a USA-made direct-to-consumer simple workhorse small pickup with low cost-of-ownership in particular. Obviously Workhorse Pickup Person not your category.

Others want to enjoy adding accessories to the Truck that make it just the way they want it to be. A subset of those people will use their Slate as a statement of their personal expression. If a Chevy Bolt transportation appliance for $2000 more looks tempting to you, that's probably not your category either.

It's a glass-half-full situation.

The Blank Slate is a platform upon which you can add (just) the features you want. There will be a huge (but not comprehensive) list of features to choose from.

Glass half empty: "It doesn't even come with a radio!"
Glass half full: "I get to add the audio system I prefer. Cool!"

I have to back up @AZFox post 100%. The 2027 Bolt is a heavy refresh of the out going 2024 Bolt EUV. Essentially GM just moved the existing production tooling to a different assembly plant. But the 2027 Bolt is completely new underneath, sharing most all hard EV components with the Chevy Equinox EV and an LFP battery.

So GM has a huge head start with the New Bolt compared to Slate with its Truck. The Slate is not a good pick if your vehicle needs are a small CUV. The Slate is a great choice if you need a small 2-door cab pickup truck.

I do understand your replies to my post, and I did put down the $50 deposit some time ago but when you look at their video posted just 1 month ago you can see my concerns regarding the improbability of any trucks, let alone a large volume of trucks being available in early summer.

And the price has gone from $20k or under to $25K, then $27K then $28k and now a vague "Sub $30k".

I just checked the NHTSA crash test results for the Slate and......

I'll hang on a little longer because I don't need the $50, but I still have my doubts about delivery dates and the final price.

With comparing to the Bolt, also consider that it's already basically cancelled. They only are planning to produce it for 18 months, and convert the factory to producing gas powered vehicles. The funny thing about that time frame is, not long after they convert, the landscape may change, there will be midterm elections in 8 months, then presidential elections in 32 months. EV incentives and ICE restrictions may come back, and manufacturers may end up shifting back towards EVs.

The under 20k was always after federal incentives, and in parallel to the 25k(mid-20s) number. The $27k, 28k, 30k numbers didn't come from Slate, Slate is still on under $25k. 27k or 27.5k came from people doing the math of (price)-7.5k incentive = under $20k. The latest from Slate is under 25.
The stated plan is to be producing those test vehicles in Spring-Summer, so it would be shocking to see published crash test results now.
That video was released January 29, so a month and a half ago, and has segments that are clearly older than others.

But Slate's costs haven't changed, just the tax credit was sun setted early. The subsidized price has changed.

Stop watching the sausage being made...
