Really theft comes down to opportunity and worth if the slate is parked next to a let’s say hell cat well thieves are going to go for the higher pay item
Two words. And a link. 😃Word?
Sorry, I was attempting my best Dave Chappelle question/agreement from the 1980-2000's era of common street vernacular. (https://tenor.com/search/dave-chappelle-word-gifs)Two words. And a link. 😃
I interpreted what you wrote to mean Slate should be designing-in Sentinel Mode. That belies the "as simple as possible but not simpler" ethos that brings us roll-up windows and paintless body panels.
I could have written "excessive ongoing expansion or addition of new features in the Slate Truck yadda yadda yadda". Instead I wrote two words with a link.
From the transcript...That topic is discussed in the Rich Rebuilds video
Gotcha. 👍Yes, I wasn't implying Slate add that feature. I was implying that if one needed the extra footage when parked, that's probably the most practical approach.
I presume that those all just pulled some juice off of 12V battery and are only activated by movement, which would be a minimal draw.Gotcha. 👍
I bought a dash cam in 2003 that has Parking Surveillance mode. I don't know how common that feature is, but it's available.
Precisely that, yes.I presume that those all just pulled some juice off of 12V battery and are only activated by movement, which would be a minimal draw.
So, as a thought experiment, will our Slate trucks have a similar hard-wired approach, or something easier (plug-play)?Precisely that, yes.
Requires the "Hardwiring Cable to hardwire your dash cam to fuse box for parking surveillance mode"
I would be surprised if there isn't a power wire at minimum. Cars are mandated to have a camera in the back. It's only a matter of time before a forward-facing camera is also required. So, as a thought experiment, will our Slate trucks have a similar hard-wired approach, or something easier (plug-play)?
I was kind of thinking something that would mount high on the rear glass and provide a better view? Same for dash cam view.I would be surprised if there isn't a power wire at minimum. Cars are mandated to have a camera in the back. It's only a matter of time before a forward-facing camera is also required.
For the good of the children, of course.![]()
