Dome/map lights

I don’t think I have seen the slate having ether of these. Can anyone confirm?

That would be crazy if it didn’t have any interior lighting.

Dome lights are nice to have, but if it doesn't, there are plenty of little battery/LED devices that could be stickytaped to the ceiling. If there isn't one, it might bother you, but wouldn't bother me. Much.

The maker shows a dome light control in the area around the rearview mirror, but nothing on the roof. So it must be a map light style in mirror assembly.

Ok cool that will work, adding a sticky push light from the dollar store is just way to silly

Being a retro-themed vehicle, I like the idea of a map light. I’ll open up one of those Rand McNally maps to find my way, since there’s no embedded navigation.

Now if I can only fold the darn thing back to fit in the glove box… Hmm, where’s the glove box? 🧐

The glovebox is where the speakers go, lol. It needs a map pocket behind the passenger seat.

Yes, and when we install the dash mounted speakers, the optional door pockets, then the center console, what’s left? Maybe add some storage pockets in the sun visors?

Doubtful, pretty sure ashtrays went into an optional smokers package well before power windows became standard on lots of vehicles.
On storage, even with both the center speaker and the speaker pair, there is a bit of dash space for a small storage space, and the console adds space.

Manual cranks only just got discontinued on the Wrangler and Gladiator in 2026 model year. They where the last 2 vehicles left with cranks for like 3-5 years, whenever I believe nissan stopped

I hadn't noticed this before. I've been grilling the Slate team on how that mirror is installed. I really hope it's just a traditional mirror mount screwed to a button behind that housing or it's really going to mess with my already-documented plans for a Gentex auto-dimmer / homelink / compass rearview mirror install.

If those have an interior light built in that will be real nice. If not I've got a few of those cabin / map lights that Ford refused to update for like 30 years knockin about that would be fun to wire up.

I wonder how easy the headliner will be to remove.... the evil part of me hopes it's a big plastic / fiberglass unit like some old cheapo / utility vehicles had had instead of a fabric foam thing.

Yeah, but there is no sign Slate will have a smoker's package at all, so it may be the only thing to come with crank windows and no option for an ashtray.

As I stated above, crank windows where available all the way up to 2025 on wrangler and gladiator

Yes, but those wranglers also had a smoker's package available? Or have those gone away altogether?
